Michigan now has more food stamp recipients than it does public school students, an analysis of federal and state statistics by Breitbart News reveals.
Michigan, which announced on Friday plans to begin drug testing some welfare recipients, currently has 1,679,421 individuals on food stamps (known officially as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP), according to the U.S. Agriculture Department. According to the Michigan Department of Education, the states total pupil count for K-12 is 1,564,114....

Who decides the level at which eligibility kicks in and what is it?
If I have a four year old Cadillac and a 60 inch flat screen TV, am I eligible?
How about a new GM truck and a 70 inch TV?
What about an old steam radio, no wheels, and a $1,000,000 home in South Beach, but no job?
A sea front 6 bedroom property in La Jolla, no radio, no TV and no job?
It sometimes seems that "poverty" is no such thing and 80% of the world's population would be happy to have that standard of living.
Probably not. One of the first things we did after the GOP taking over was knock some 60,000 off food stamps.
this may be a record of sorts?? Number One In Food Stamp to Students Ratio...
I don’t know about a record. Probably more in California but Michigan is pretty good about putting info out.
California would try to HIDE the statistics, most likely.
Who needs an education when your life’s ambition is to be a dependent on the state?
My state FL not only has our own handout population but for some reason many from others states decide to move here and leech because they can move about and never worry about getting jobs while knowing they will get their handouts.
We have a family from NY state who has moved here and rent a house and they are nothing but trouble, play the victim and leech off churches, Govt, and any other way they can get their handouts with their sorry con stories .
I’m guessing the numbers are on the rise in Colorado with the homeless making a run for the state.
This is a hot _bed_ for the peaceful religion. You pay for them to migrate in, produce and raise children; very often, multiple mothers.
It’s not an accident...
Yea I heard the homeless are moving on mass to CO because of the legal drugs.
An anarchist commie dream.
My experience living in Michigan is that the state Dept. of Welfare promoted the hell out of this program at every chance they got.
They came to my workplace and hung a poster urging people to sign up. When I read it and realized that once my second child was born I was gonna qualify, I went and got another job.
I’m guessing a big chunk is going to that bankrupt, war zone city of Detroit.
When I worked at the state unemployment office the Income Maintenance Workers (aka “social workers”) were being paid a commission for every sign-up.
Yes, they promote it everywhere, even the school hallways, and in multiple languages.
My State Rep a few years ago (before he was term limited) came to a tea party meeting and told us that his office had gotten a phone call from the Grand Valley State University Womens soccer coach, asking how to get EBT cards for every girl on the team. It seems the logic they use is that every college student is poor, so we should just feed them all. It was worth $300/month per student
Jenny Granholm made it a sure thing for every college student in the state. Full ride scholarship students and millionaire trust fund students could get food stamps.
Hey, since Moochelle thinks she can regulate schoolchildren diets, why not regulate those on Dorkbama cards?
After all, we have to pay for their medical care, and therefore we have a right to tell them what to eat and drink.
Oh, forgot, logic does NOT work with libtards.
I believe that the practice of wholesale EBT card distribution to college kids was stopped when the republicans took the governors seat, the house and the senate, but I’m not absolutely sure about that.
