The US census bureau reports Florida Passes New York to Become the Nations Third Most Populous State
I added the dashed red line to show the stagnation in Illinois.
The Bureau Reports ....
By adding an average of 803 new residents each day between July 1, 2013 and July 1, 2014, Florida passed New York to become the nations third most populous state, according to U.S. Census Bureau state population estimates released today. Floridas population grew by 293,000 over this period, reaching 19.9 million. The population of New York increased by 51,000 to 19.7 million. Most Populous States
California remained the nations most populous state in 2014, with 38.8 million residents, followed by Texas, at 27.0 million. Although the list of the 10 most populous states overall was unchanged, two other states did change positions, as North Carolina moved past Michigan to take the ninth spot.
Another milestone took place in Georgia (ranked 8th), which saw its population surpass 10 million for the first time.
North Dakota was the nations fastest-growing state over the last year. Its population increased 2.2 percent, followed by the 1.7 percent growth in Nevada and Texas. Each of the 10 fastest-growing states was in the South or West with the exception of North Dakota.
Six states lost population between July 1, 2013, and July 1, 2014: Illinois (9,972 or -0.08 percent), West Virginia (3,269 or -0.18 percent), Connecticut (2,664 or -0.07 percent), New Mexico (1,323 or -0.06 percent, Alaska (527 or -0.07 percent) and Vermont (293 or -0.05 percent).

Re: “The most surprising on the list is New Mexico.”
It will be interesting to see if the ethnic mix has significantly changed in 2014.
In 2013:
(1) Hispanic - 47.3%
(2) White - 39.4%
(3) Native American - 10.4%
My first guess would be “white flight” balanced by the arrival of more Hispanics.
But, that is just a guess.
2012 - Florida - All Eligible Hispanic Voters:
Cuban - 32%
Puerto Rican - 28%
Mexican - 9%
Other (mostly South American) - 30%
In 2012 - Hispanic Registration By Party:
Democrat - 39%
Independent/Other - 32%
Republican - 29%
In 2012...
14% of all registered voters in Florida are Hispanic.
86% are not
Republican Hispanics in Florida are overwhelmingly Cuban.
Don’t forget that much of Metro Orlando is now Puerto Rico del Norte.
Orlando is filled with Ricans. Only about a third of the population of Florida was actually born in the state. Finally, being a redneck is not something to be proud of.
Re: “86% are not”
About 11% of Florida registered voters are Black.
And, a very significant percentage of white Florida voters have migrated from New York and New Jersey.
In a presidential election year, Florida is clearly a 50-50 toss up state, and clearly trending Democrat.
Nah more like 50/50 now.
Re: “Republican Hispanics in Florida are overwhelmingly Cuban.”
True.
But Cubans are just 32% of registered Hispanic voters in Florida.
can’t argue with that
Important to remember that there are two, distinct groups of Cubans.
The first wave of refugees in the 1960’s was massively Republican. Essentially, they were the Cuban professional class and business owners who fled Castro. Most of them traced their ancestry to Europe.
Since 1980, the second wave of “refugees” are mostly Hispanic or African, they have limited skills and limited education, and they are overwhelmingly Democrats.
Montana is no longer conservative because rich liberals from California bought up the Western half. East is stll conservative but widely dispersed on huge ranches. I lived in the c3nter for a few years and I was surprised how mixed it was even there.
Too lonesome and too far to drive to get anywhere for me.
Like I said, Florida is not on my list as a place to live.
It is your patriotic duty.
Close that computer.
AND THAT GOES FOR ALL THE REST OF YOU FREEPERS.
In 1960, NY had 45 electoral votes, California had 32, and Texas had 25.
It would be interesting to know the fertility of white women born in or moved to California after 1960 who still live there, compared with white women in other states.

A happy New Year to you and your tribe.
