HISTORIANS rate presidents by every conceivable quality. What about least lame duck? President Obama is making a run for the title. Since the midterm elections, in his first month and a half as a lame duck, Mr. Obama has taken dramatic action on immigration, climate change and now, normalizing relations with Cuba.
In our new political marketplace, the decline of powerful party organizations and the rise of hyperpartisan politics mean that presidents have much less political capital even at the height of their terms. At the same time, they have unprecedented capacity for unilateral executive authority. The great constraints on using that authority are re-election and the midterm congressional elections. But once those are over, the new end-of-term president is not a lame duck anymore. He is a new and more muscular animal altogether.

I see 0’s lapdogs are coming to his rescue...once again
There ya go. The media wants 0bama to be American royalty so he shall be called 0bama The Lame.
What’s left of the country could survive two short years of Slow Joe.
They write an editorial demanding that Bush be prosecuted, and then write one slobbering over Obama in the same day?
I guess they need even more people to get canned.
Bingo!!! Never let the truth get in the way of the agenda.
It’s first and goal from the one...The Coup is about to score.
EXEMPT Boehner: "Of course we support Obama.
On Amnesty. On taxes. On IRS coverup.
On arming al Qaeda. On ignoring Benghazi.
On ignoring Islamic terrorism. On attacking tea party.
Obama is my king, and there is none else."
“muscular animal” - lol - these NYT metros sure fall back on queerly chosen language when they stumble thru their love sonnets to obama
2 more years of total bull
God, that’s disgusting. “He’s great, he’s awesome, he’s going to be a DICTATOR!” The rest of us are less than impressed.
Secondly, they cheer this as if this is all wonderful and the president is flexing his muscles.
The fact is most of his agenda has little public support.
There is definitely a bubble the media class exists in
I guess rule by decree is something the NY Times loves
are you referring to the NY Slimes or GOPe?
I think scorched earth is closer to being correct.
Obama’s legacy will be a failed attempt at taking over healthcare, and a failed attempt to rule by decree. They can praise him all they want, but everything Obama is doing can be wiped away with the stroke of a pen by the next president. He isn’t accomplishing anything legislatively. And ruling against the will of the people will only help the Republicrats in 2016. If we are fortunate enough to get a candidate with a spine the Obama administration accomplishments will be a footnote.
Most of Stalin's,Mao'sand Kin Jung Un's agenda had little or no support either. Look what happened there
Pinkos better enjoy the communist NYT while they can. Won't be around for the long haul. They have been losing tons and tons of money for years in spite of massive infusions of capital from mexican billionare Carlos Simm and others. NYT, a total disgrace to objective journalism!!
