He's not in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Can you believe it? But Madonna is. RnR Hall of fame: Credibility = Zero.

How sad. So many who were here are here no longer. RIP, Joe, and thanks for the music.

Joe asks St. Peter, “Where’s the bathroom window?”

A sad day, Joe Cocker was one of the greats.

But.. we can cheer ourselves up a bit with some Dueling Cockers:

I saw Cocker a couple times in the last 20 years. He was still doing an excellent show.

I was a huge fan of the original Not Ready for Prime Time Players. We would be sure to get back to our college apartment by start time on Saturday night to watch SNL.

Cocker got the last laugh on Belushi by a lot of years.

Pity

I think of around 3-4 things

His version of She Came in Through the Bathroom Window....Mad Dogs

Woodstock film content obviously...the sweat

He and Belushi....he was a good sport.....it was priceless

And I bet you know where I'm headed.....last but most inspiring...one of my wife all time favorite movies famous scene......

You Can Leave Your Hat On....hell yeah!

Of his lesser known/played songs, one I have always liked is “Sandpaper Cadillac” from the “With a Little Help From My Friends” LP

An LP I lost when I never went back to the apartment of the girl of dubious morals where I had left it. The dubious morals were not the issue. It was discovering that she was 15 and not 18. Although on the plus side of the ledger, she was considerably more experienced than I was (age 19). I have fond memories of her when I play that CD now.

Remember, it was 1971 after all. If the war had not been going on, it would have been the best of times. $15 lids, 99¢ for a six pack of long necks, cheap cigarettes and 35¢ gas. What else did a virile young man need?

My favorite too. Reminds me of an old girlfriend... well she wasn’t old at the time, just really, really hot.

It was a good song for Randy Newman but Cocker just nails it.

No kidding. The one shining star in the vast media wasteland of the early 70s.

I never had any interest in the SNL crews that followed. I suspect it’s because that first bunch caught lightning in a bottle.

That’s an old Lovin’ Spoonful tune he covered. As usual his version is as good or better than the original.
