I remember when I was a kid the was the John Belushi parody of Cocker on Saturday Night Live.

I didn’t get it because I had no idea who Cocker was.

That performance by John Belushi was one of the finest impressions of one person by another person I have ever seen.

I listened to him for quite a while before I realized he wasn’t black.

I really like Joe Cocker’s music, and I even have a Joe Cocker Playlist.

However, watching Joe Cocker has always made me want to prescribe him something for a movement disorder.

R.I.P., Joe.

Here is a link to my favorite Joe Cocker video, from Woodstock, 1969:

“I remember when I was a kid the was the John Belushi parody of Cocker on Saturday Night Live.”

I remember that one! That was incredibly funny. IIRC, Cocker was hosting SNL that night too.

Yes, I think more people know of him from the Belushi parody.

One of the musicians from my youth whose music has never seemed dated. Very sad.

3 posts in and we have the John Belushi parallel. Exactly what I first thought of too as I read the headline.

Belushi was dead-on a good impersonator.

That being said - RIP Joe Cocker. Condolences to his loved ones.

“Yes, I think more people know of him from the Belushi parody.”

I think so. I’m one of them.

Later they used Cocker’s Beatles cover as the theme for the TV show Wonder Years.

I went in April of 2013 to a Joe Cocker concert in Frankfurt. Terrific experience...I was forty feet from the stage and you could see sweat dripping off the guy in buckets. He probably gulped down ten bottles of water before it ended (a good long concert).
