New population projections released by the U.S. Census Bureau show that whites will become a “minority” by 2044, replaced by a “majority” of minority groups, mostly blacks and Hispanics.
The new projections, analyzed in a Brookings Institution report, show the huge rise of Hispanics, projected to make up 25.1 percent of the U.S. population in 2044, double African-Americans.
According to the analysis, the white will make up 49.7 percent of the country in 2044, minorities the rest. What’s more, by 2060, whites will account for just 44 percent of the country.
Brookings attributed the shift to a “majority minority nation” this way:
— The white population is projected to increase modestly until 2025 when it reaches 199,867,000; after that, it will sustain a continued decrease until 2060 when whites will make up only 44 percent of the population. Natural decrease, the excess of deaths over births, for this aging population will be the primary component of this decline.
— A growth of new minorities — Asians, Hispanics and multiracial persons. Between 2014 and 2060 both the Asian and Hispanic populations will more than double at growth rates of 129 percent and 115 percent respectively. Multiracial persons will more than triple, growing at nearly 220 percent. These new projections assume a greater gain for Asians than in previous projections but reduced gains for Hispanics. The former reflects rising Asian immigration and the latter a drop-off in Hispanic fertility.
Hispanic birthrate has slowed down too, let’s wait and see.

What do you base the belief that Hispanics will become conservative voters on?
Polls consistently show a majority if Hispanics favor bigger government. They favor obamacare. They favor gun control. They aren’t as conservative on social issues anymore. Hispanics naturally align with Democrats more so than with Republicans. So long as immigration of Hispanics remains high there is little reason to think any of that will change.
The best environment to win over Hispanics is one in which immigration levels are much lower than they are now.

Like urban blacks, Hispanics favor big government until they have to pay for it; when they get the bill that will change. Urban blacks are only big spenders with taxpayers’ money, not their own.
Spain itself may be in bad shape, but I don’t know that Portugal and Italy aren’t worse off (Portugal in particular, due to a lower education level). Many Spaniards are going to work in Germany now and sending remittances home; many Portuguese don’t have the job skills required (the Wall Street Journal did a piece about this in the last year or so, regarding the education levels for young workers in Portugal).
They won’t be pulling any wagon; they haven’t to this point, have they? I remember a city council meeting on the news (don’t even recall which city), and it showed a drama being played out in cities all over the US: A predominantly-black city council arguing with primarily-white retirees about the loss of dwindling current revenues to retirees’ benefits. In my town (mostly Hispanic at this point), homeowners are stuck with huge tax bills for this but at least most homeowners are still working. Who will pay the bills as areas de-populate and lose homeowners and businesses? The de facto amnesty in place here for decades will ensure housing and classrooms remain occupied, but the imported “replacement Americans” aren’t here to “ask what they can do for their country”. They didn’t come here to fund the Social Security program for aging Americans; they didn’t come here to pay for ANYTHING.
“White” will always mean advantage, privilege and unearned to blacks and other minorities. It will be used as an excuse to enslave them one day.
As if this country has any chance of still being in existence by 2044.

All “people of color other than white” are “historical victims” and cannot ever be accused of using demographic power against the “historically privileged” white.
The victims will be considered honorary minorities even if they are a demographic majority. The *privileged* will be considered de facto oppressors forever.
BTW, contrarian that I am, I want to know why there will be a projected 10-year increase in the white population followed by a slow, inevitable *decline* to a fraction of under half?
This is accomplished by 1) lumping all other groups into one against the Euro-whites and 2) assuming that all mixed-race people will automatically find solidarity with the *people of color*, even when the light-skinned mixed race people find discrimination within the people of color cadres and yet are often situated (socially, economically, educationally) so as to prosper in the society-at-large.
This conclusion is reached by the always suspect straight-line extrapolation from the present to infinity, which assumes nothing ever changes. Whites could simply begin having more babies. People of color could increase their utilization of abortion and birth control. Voluntary separation could result in increased deaths of people of color from violence in their neighborhoods, while whites survive in relatively safer environments. The conclusion is based on a demographic hockey stick constructed of groundless assumptions. It may be “a possibility” It is not necessarily a probability and it is not a guaranteed outcome.
These *studies* are exercises in FUD.
If immigration levels were greatly reduced then I think we’d have a much better chance of winning Hispanics over to conservatism.
Yes, any policy change to reduce immigration would be savagely demagogued, and that would likely lead Hispanics to vote for the Democrats in even greater numbers...for a while.
But eventually Hispanics would see that a tight labor market leads to higher wages and greater opportunity, and that would be more valuable than any of the racial politics the Democrats are offering.
I think we’d have a much better chance with Hispanics, over the long run, if we greatly reduced immigration levels.
Probably; a good number of them still come here to work (that used to be the only reason they came), and they can (and are willing to) assimilate more easily.
