From elsewhere I have read he was known as the “hatin’ sheik.”
The cops did the best they could.
It was an impossible or nearly impossible situation.
What a racist and bigoted headline. Why Muslims are peaceful. Islam is the Religion of Peace, right?
While it is important for him to be studied and no effort should be made to hide what he did, what he was, or why he did it, I personally do not intend to discuss him. He should be consigned to the dungheap of history.
Would there been fewer dead and fewer injured had there been one person with a concealed firearm?
He probably had a hard time learning to speak Australian and didn't get enough help. < / sarcasm >
I’ve read reports he was armed with a shotgun. I wonder if he got it legally, because that would likely be a Category A type. Not what I’d choose for a firefight.
Watch there be suits against the Australian law enforcement officials on behalf of those killed or injured by the Muslim gunman rather than against the gunman’s family. It’s the way liberals wants the world to operate these days.
Stuff this scum’s corpse with pig viscera and hang him in downtown Sydney for a week with a sign that reads, “This is what happens to jihadis”.
Nothing to worry about here — this had NOTHING to do with Islam. Case closed. No discussion.
Yes. My thoughts as well.
I wish there had been, because it might well have made a difference.
With his criminal record, he could not have even had an A/B licence. Even if the gun was one most people could readily own, he would have been prohibited.
Well, you know, if there were better GUN CONTROL in Australia then this NEVER would have happened. </sarcasm>
Thanks for the info.
Retail Place Violence.
Just got this on another forum. This song is one of Australia’s most popular patriotic songs even though it’s quite a new one. Two verses have been added to this version (I think based on ones written for the bushfires a few years ago):
I came from the dream-time, from the dusty red soil plains
I am the ancient heart, the keeper of the flame.
I stood upon the rocky shore, I watched the tall ships come.
For forty thousand years I’ve been the first Australian.
We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian
I came upon the prison ship, bowed down by iron chains.
I cleared the land, endured the lash and waited for the rains.
I’m a settler, I’m a farmer’s wife on a dry and barren run
A convict then a free man, I became Australian.
We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian
I’m the daughter of a digger who sought the mother lode
The girl became a woman on the long and dusty road
I’m a child of the depression, I saw the good times come
I’m a bushy, I’m a battler, I am Australian
We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian
I’m a teller of stories, I’m a singer of songs
I am Albert Namatjira, I paint the ghostly gums
I am Clancy on his horse, I’m Ned Kelly on the run
I’m the one who waltzed Matilda, I am Australian
We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian
There are no words of comfort that can hope to ease the pain
Of losing friends and loved ones the memories will remain
Within the silent tears youll find the strength to carry on
Youre not alone, we are with you. We are Australian!
We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian
There are so many heroes whose stories must be told
They put themselves in danger and saved so many souls
From the depths of despair this land will rise again!
We mourn your loss, we’re there for you. We are Australian!
We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian
I’m the hot wind from the desert, I’m the black soil of the plains
I’m the mountains and the valleys, I’m the drought and flooding rains
I am the rock, I am the sky, the rivers when they run
The spirit of this great land, I am Australian
We are one, but we are many
And from all the lands on earth we come
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we are Australian
I am, you are, we are Australian!
