A hostage has been forced to hold up an Islamic State flag in the window of a shop in Martin Place that is currently under siege.
It is believed there are 12 hostages in the store and an ISIS flag has been placed in the window.
Martin Place is the main financial area of the Sydney CBD.

Whilst many asylum seekers reach Australia via Indonesia most of them are not Indonesians themselves.
There is a big Muslim community in Australia but few of them are Indonesian, most of them are Lebanese or from other areas in the Middle East. The small community of Indonesians in Australia are mostly made up of Indonesian-Chinese or Indonesians married to Australians and are fully assimilated into Australian life.
There’s no need to blame the Indonesians for this, I can guarantee you that when the perps are identified they will not be Indonesians or in any way associated with Indonesia.

BREAKING: Reports a hostage inside the Lindt Cafe has managed to get a tweet away, reportedly urging police to be cautious. 9News Hope somebody inside thinks to put together a really good sitrep. Accurate intelligence from inside the situation would be invaluable. Number of hostage takers, weapons; explosives, distribution, locations, anything they've revealed about a broader plot or their intentions, how jumpy they are (Pros? Amateurs?). Dangerous as hell, but it might save their lives in the end.
