Struggles Continue as Senate Attempts to Pass Funding Bill

Congress gave itself until Wednesday to pass a government funding bill after the two Republican senators whose efforts led to a government shutdown in 2013 disrupted legislation that would avert a shutdown.

Unable to pass a massive spending bill that would keep the government funded for a year, the Senate on Saturday approved a stopgap measure to prevent a shutdown at midnight. The maneuver came during a rare Saturday session after GOP Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee demanded a vote Friday to defund President Barack Obama's executive actions on immigration, thwarting Senate leadership's hopes to pass a $1.1 trillion spending bill and get it to the White House with minimum theatrics before leaving Washington.

The Senate will spend most of Saturday voting on presidential nominations, and will hold a procedural vote on the spending measure at 1 a.m. on Sunday. Final passage of the legislation is expected on Monday. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid attempted to reconvene on Monday, but Lee's request for a vote on Obama's immigration action and Reid's subsequent denial resulted in the weekend work.

Despite all the breathless coverage the liberal MSM is giving to a possible government shutdown, we know that it doesn’t really care what happens, because, according to ‘’USA Today,’’ tomorrow’s Sunday talk shows will all be featuring the newly released CIA report on possible torture during the Bush administration.

It’s clear that Diane Feinstein who released the report, along with the Obama administration, and the liberal MSM have been in league to stage a mass public televised tantrum against actions by Republicans that happened more than ten years ago. Instead of, of course, covering the critical events that are happening now in an effort to keep the government open.

Unless ‘’Meet the Press’’ and its Sunday morning partners in anti-Republican propaganda have changed their minds about their guest lists, we will see a truly disgusting spectacle tomorrow of PTBDS, or Post-Traumatic Bush-Derangement Syndrome.

OH BOO FRICKIN’ HOO. These jerks in Congress aren’t popular because they don’t represent the will of the people. They do what they want then tell the people what they’re gonna get and what they’ll be paying for. Who was melting down Congress’ phone lines telling them to pass amnesty? Who was melting their phone lines down to pass Obamacare? No one wanted these things YET, the gooberment passes them regardless.
