Congress gave itself until Wednesday to pass a government funding bill after the two Republican senators whose efforts led to a government shutdown in 2013 disrupted legislation that would avert a shutdown.
Unable to pass a massive spending bill that would keep the government funded for a year, the Senate on Saturday approved a stopgap measure to prevent a shutdown at midnight. The maneuver came during a rare Saturday session after GOP Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee demanded a vote Friday to defund President Barack Obama's executive actions on immigration, thwarting Senate leadership's hopes to pass a $1.1 trillion spending bill and get it to the White House with minimum theatrics before leaving Washington.
The Senate will spend most of Saturday voting on presidential nominations, and will hold a procedural vote on the spending measure at 1 a.m. on Sunday. Final passage of the legislation is expected on Monday. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid attempted to reconvene on Monday, but Lee's request for a vote on Obama's immigration action and Reid's subsequent denial resulted in the weekend work.

Where’s Rand? He proved he has the stamina. Maybe he only has it for McConnell.
He said he will vote no but will punch McConnell in the nose?
Go Ted, Go Mike!
Slimy NBC doesn’t mention that Elizabeth Warren is opposing this as well and THEY DON’T HAVE THE VOTES even with the non-filibuster.
From the link....
“This is certainly a very poor way to end the year, and will only confirm the public’s already low opinion of Congress,” Republican Sen. Susan Collins said Saturday.
YOU and other RINO’s are the reason for the “already low opinion” of Congress, Susan! You, Midge, McShame, Linda Grahamnesty, et all. You all support 0bama’s amnesty and agenda!
Time to tweet Sen Collins.....#CruzControl
Yeah I see Hairy Roid is on twitter laying all the blame on Cruz and Lee. He’s getting plenty of pushback.
Rand and others could push this out a week and just give these bad people some discomfort.
I think Vitter and Sessions have the ability to talk for a long time. Sessions logs the most time and Vitter perused the amnesty bill in one night.

“confirm the public’s already low opinion of Congress”
The public’s opinion of Congress was confirmed long ago, Susan, dear.
This does up my opinion of Cruz (and Lee).
Cruz is doing exactly what he was elected to do, imho. Shake things up!!
This travesty will more than likely pass...but it don’t have to be without a fight.
” Congress gave itself until Wednesday to pass a government funding bill after the two Republican senators whose efforts led to a government shutdown in 2013 disrupted legislation that would avert a shutdown.”
Don’t you just love unbiased reporting.
When Pocahontas did the same thing she was all but crowned the next president by these propagandists.
Partisan media is alive and well.
“It’s those damned government shutdown type Senators!”
Signed, The Media

I don’t give a damn how the year ends for you, RINO elitist.

...
Those two senators are standing up for what’s right and best for the country. It’s the business as usual kleptocrats who are causing the real problems. The end of time will arrive before the complicit media reports it that way.
bump for live feed
