Neither of those things are human.
She should have killed them both.

She did put a bullet in him, but in that fraction of a second when she should have fired again, she might have paused, giving him a chance to shoot back. And had those books not been there, her injury would have been much worse, even fatal.

You've also got to keep in mind the 'dead man's 5 seconds'.

I would have used different tactics. Two hooded punks enter your gun shop? I’m getting ready...not asking them “How may I help you?”

The lady needs a handgun shooting course or two. She’s clearly self-trained—one handed shooting, not raising the firearm to aim (even point shooting under these circumstances incorporates “aiming”), and terrible trigger discipline (not managing recoil did not help).

She appears to quit—take cover but lose track of the threat.

Some might say, “you are harsh”, “have you ever been in a gun fight”, “you weren’t there.” No. No. No. I plan to learn from her mistakes and survive my gun fight, if and when. I hope she critically looks at what went down and prepares for the next encounter.

Obviously these children were victims of racial profiling.

If these had been white guys in hoods, she would never have gotten a shot off before they killed her and her husband.

It is in Springdale, Arkansas. Home of Tyson Chickens.

...and the Duggars, who live in the 'burbs.

Hmmm a .38

If I was there and knowing that I wouldn’t need to carry concealed, I would have the largest caliber possible that I felt I could comfortably fire. Maybe in her case that is a .38 revolver. But how about going up a notch to .357 (or at least .38+p+), just make sure the revolver is rated for that.

I think you’re being way too critical of the lady. In the first place, she used a snub nose .38 and actually HIT the guy moving under very stressful conditions. Instead of second guessing her tactics, I say give her a medal and a years’ free pass to the range of her choice. Way to go AnnieO.

No. Just visited there. Live in PA. Retired auctioneer. Used to auction cars in Fairfield on Tuesdays and Bordentown on Wednesdays, and sometimes back to Fairfield again on Thursdays. The stop in Springfield was on a side trip on another day. Beautiful in late May.

Took a little searching to find just where this Springfield is. I swear, I think every doggone state in the union has a city/town named Springfield.

Well, since this town is named Springdale and not Springfield that may have put a little hitch in your search.

That said, maybe you could have clued in the rest of us as to the results of your search instead of just patting yourself on the back.

As best as I can determine, it's in Arkansas, but your mileage may differ.

I agree. Inside the store there is no need for concealment. I'd say a .38 caliber is OK. The cops used to carry that, before they all went to 9mm. However, I'd want more than 6 shots available. That's why I prefer semi-autos. Even a Browning Hi-Power gives you twice the number of shots as does a revolver, and it's a very easy gun to shoot accurately. Other guns give you even more rounds than a Hi-Power. Worth it, in my opinion.

It seems odd, considering the world-wide web, that these local TV stations assume that everyone clicking on their site automatically knows their location. I've been frustrated numerous times by that self-imposed obscurity--their location just isn't spelled out anywhere.

I finally came up with a strategy that worked in this case, that I shall employ henceforth. I clicked on the weather button, saw Fayetteville, etc., and inferred Arkansas.

Great minds think alike. That was the exact method that I used. It works most times, but sometimes there is no weather button, or the button only brings up the weather for Greater Springdale, or, horrors, Richmond. You may know that Richmond is in almost as many states as Springfield.

Yes the cops went to the 9mm for the higher capacity but have since recognized that it too is underpowered. Therefore the .40 or .45 is now more standard.

I ever end up on Springdale’s FD, I know where I’ll be doing my gun and ammo business at.
