I guess there are more of us than I thought. That’s why so many of us who should have retired are still working. :-(

There is a strange paradox as well. I have a very broad skill set and my company pays me well for that skill set. I'm quite willing to put in 50 to 70 hour weeks. The rub is that my customers are on a "cheap streak" where they want the level of support and skill that I've applied to their problems for the last 20 years, but at about 1/3 the price. My boss puts out requisitions that mirror my skill set. Few qualified applicants get to the interview stage. When they make it, the whole thing falls apart when the salary offer is a horrible low ball. This has been going on for most of the last year. I got cut to 12 hours a week. I was available 50 hours a week just to snag that 12 hours. Just last week I started with a new project. It's 32 hours a week at my regular rates. The bonus is that I get to do it from my home office instead of shouldering the full cost of living 900 miles from home for an extra 8 hours of work each week.

It’s tough for so many families today, including my own. Just wish Obama was out of office. We, as a nation, are suffering terribly from a lack of honest leadership.

"...by the mid 1960′s HALF of all blacks had moved into the middle class? Black families were intact, the door of opportunity had been opened, and discrimination became illegal. There was still plenty of racism and obstacles, but blacks were moving forward. Then, everything starts to change and unravel for the black family, as we see the big white liberal helping hand decide that government programs must be implemented. Welfare dependency soared in the 70′s. Government checks replaced husbands, gangs replaced Dads, and broken homes became the norm. By the 1980′s seventy to eighty percent of black babies were born to unwed mothers. These mothers lived their lives dependent on the government. Their children grew up and also depended on the government, and the vicious cycle of dependency began." http://blog.chron.com/texassparkle/2014/05/the-myth-of-white-privilege/
