Down and Out - Democratic Party losses as state level almost unprecedented - crippling
Slate ^ | December 11, 2014 | Jamelle Bouie, covers politics, policy and race

The Democratic Party’s losses at the state level are almost unprecedented, and could cripple it for a long time to come.

"........With that said, there are more costs to Democratic weakness in the states than just House elections. States are where parties build talent and try new ideas. Here, the GOP is instructive. Its brightest stars are either governors (Scott Walker, John Kasich, and Chris Christie) or former state officeholders (Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Joni Ernst). And Republican-controlled statehouses have been incubators for conservative ideas, from experiments in tax cutting (Bobby Jindal’s Louisiana and Sam Brownback’s Kansas) to full-fledged assaults on public-sector unions (Walker’s Wisconsin and Christie’s New Jersey). In all likelihood, the next Republican president will either come from the states, or will borrow his approach from the present generation of GOP governors. Likewise, if Democrats win the White House for a third term, they’ll face opposition from Congress and empowered Republican majorities at the state level. Indeed, if not for statehouse Republicans, the Affordable Care Act would be a smoother project, with broader buy-in for exchanges and the Medicaid expansion.

Democrats might have strong national prospects in the form of Hillary Clinton, but they have little to look to in the states. Only a few places stand as incubators for progressive strategies and ideas, and nationwide, Democrats have close to nothing in the way of a bench for federal and statewide office. The liberal counterparts to Walker, Christie, Brownback, and Mike Pence—ideologically motivated governors with national profiles—don’t exist. And as a result, liberals can’t point to a forward-looking agenda that exists outside the bounds of the presidency......"

K-12 too. All part of the plan.

Getting rid of unionized teachers is harder and does not address where the teachers get their training. As to how to address k-12, here's my plan.

Appreciate your plan, Carry_Okie. It’s a good one for civilized people. But we’re dealing with fascist and communist leftists. They understand three things:

1. Threats of violence.

2. Violence.

3. Death.

The time for negotiating with leftists is pretty much done.

Such can still be found. All it will take is one State to break ranks and then let the natural law of competitive forces do their job. The first State that does break ranks gains the revenue from multiple headquarters for a new industry.

But we’re dealing with fascist and communist leftists. They understand three things:

You forgot money. Fascists understand money and we start with divide and conquer. Many of those communo-fascist power freaks (Skinner's progenitors) are driven by Malthusian fantasies. As you may know, I've been working on pulling the rug out from that one for 25 years.

The time for negotiating with leftists is pretty much done.

Well I'm not ready to bury my ammo just yet. I do encourage you to take a hard look at the above link.

“Such can still be found”

Always the gentleman, aren’t you? Don’t take me wrong; that’s a good quality on your part. I think you’re too California trusting with leftists. (Just my opinion, of course.)

As a former Californian resident, I know how enticing the Californian siren song can be.

“Well I’m not ready to bury my ammo just yet.”

I hope not. If you need ammo, try raiding the local armory.

In the meantime, I’ll check out your link tomorrow. G’night. Best to you and your family.

What the hell made you think I was talking about California? I was thinking Utah.

In the mean time, where better to learn to drive leftists into cognitive dissonance than Santa Cruz County California? (I know one marvels that they have enough cognitive over which to be dissonant, but such things are relative you know...)

Do we now understand the devastation that Roe vs. Wade has brought upon the left in the form of brain drain - they managed to teach in one generation to murder the unborn, not convict those charged with murder, and in the process kill off many of the very people who would have been part of a new generational change in thought process, such as between Gen X and Baby Boomers. I for one support the increases in children born into nuclear families over the Marxist-socialist model which culls about 2/3’s off to abortions, leaving a positive increase in what can only be deemed Christian friendly families and subjected to conservative upbringing - if the illegal alien issue can be redefined as Marxist workers who are wards of the social welfare state and denied citizenship, the conservative gains in live births will eventually kill off the majorities democrats held in the 21st century.

The buzz is Michelle ‘s Chrismas present to Obama is 10-hour long sessions w/ a therapist practiced in Political Loss Griping.

Michele is worried b/c Barack has developed an obsessive compulsive disorder-—he counts everything.

Planned Parenthood sent over a festive penis-shaped holiday wreath for their bedroom door hung w/ red and green happy face condoms. Barack went ballistic declaring the uber-liberal PP to be “intolerant,” “insensitive” and “uncompassionate” b/c 246 condoms festooned the wreath-—the number of Republicans in the new Congress.

Michele became really alarmed when Barack put Malia in a chokehold b/c her new hairdo had 110 corn rows——the number of southern districts that went Republican.

Michele said she noticed at dinner, Obama had taken the boiled, unsalted kale stems on his dinner plate and spelled out “loser “ on the WH china.

‘Ross Perot won” should have read “Ross Perot ran”.

I know what you mean, and I guess you knew what I meant according to your answer.

I think always think faster than I type, which makes for the wrong word occasionally.

This is great news. The Democrat losses at the state legislative and county levels are a great harbinger for future elections.

I just learned of a loss I hadn’t heard of yet, a rat scumbag who sold the club drug Ecstasy when he was in his 20’s was elected DA of Bexar County Texas (San Antonio). He beat a 4 term GOP incumbent.

So why are so many of the Republican politicians, and politicos, afraid of a govt.shutdown? It sure didn’t hurt them in the landslide election they just had.

I think it was Brit Hume (and others) that said shut downs always hurt Republicans. Really?

Hooray Ted Cruz!!!!!

I'm a bit surprised I haven't heard anything. It's not like one encounters a book like that every day.

This book presents my qualifications as THE “expert in the field” of restoration ecology, simply because our restoration has accomplished a critical achievement that no other such project even attempts. Effectively it is a key legal prerequisite for the exercise of my patent on a free-market environmental management business method as a way to undermine the regulatory juggernaut.
