Berkeley Protesters Block Highway, Stop Train

rotests against the grand jury decisions not to indict the police officers who killed Michael Brown and Eric Garner continued for a third consecutive night in Berkeley, Calif., yesterday, with more than 1,000 people blocking traffic. Protesters thronged both sides of Interstate 80 as well as train tracks in the city, forcing an Amtrak train to halt, the AP reports. The protests had started as a peaceful march earlier in the day; the group chanted, "Who do you protect? Peaceful protest!" at the Berkeley Police Department as officers in riot gear kept them from getting near. Then protesters sat outside a Bay Area Rapid Transit train station, causing it to be shut down for a few hours, before the group splintered into smaller factions, some of which became disruptive.

The protests in the Bay Area will probably stop tomorrow. A big storm is predicted.

Fimd where they park their cars then peacefully snip their tire stems.

Peacefully do such though. Don’t use violence because that’s wrong. Inconvenience their schedule. That’s the ceux of the issue. They protest up till they have better things to do. Make them be inconvenienced and they’ll stop protesting.

Wouldn't it be more peaceful to peacefully loosen their tire valve stems and peacefully leave them there in place?
Air forcefully kept in a tire should be allowed the diversity to mix with other surrounding air molecules in complete harmony. ;-)

But some fascist with an air pump may come along and disturb the tire from its natural state. It’s best to cut it so it can’t be fixed as easily but is still fairly peaceful unlike stabbing the tire.

a handful of elite, wealthy do nothings decide to protest something.....anything to draw attention to themselves.....Let’s bust some windows and steal some stuff belonging to a perfectly innocent shop owner....that will show them (whoever them is)...

Air in the tires of protesters contribute to global warming, climate change, dying animals in sub-sahran Africa, and a volcano in Indonesia.

The air must be released to help the planet!

Frankly, I know a guy who knows a guy who’s keeping a can of mace in the car just HOPING these knuckle-heads try to stop in-bound traffic on their commute one day. The course of action. walk up as if you support the cause, scream rape, a quick facial spray, then while they are writhing in pain, remind them they have 10 seconds to get off of the freeway before the normal traffic resumes.

That’s what he told me, anyway.

"This was allowed to happen."

Agreed.

In driver's ed. so many years ago, we were taught to never try to outrun a train, because it takes at least a quarter mile to come to a complete stop. And THAT'S if they SEE you.

Unless these commuter trains can stop on a dime, or were "ready" this shouldn't be possible.

Plus WTF is wrong with protesters?

A passenger train slamming on its brakes isn't so good for the passengers.

As in not belted/ babies flying into walls.

You know death, and bad optics.

That sort of thing.

If I was the engineer I'd simply and plausibly say:

"I didn't see anyone on the tracks."

These protesters have zero empathy or concern for the passengers or the drivers caught up in their “Cool Happenings”. Last night, a woman on a Berkeley highway went into labor while those ‘protesters’ were blocking traffic. Somehow, the ambulance got to her.

Time will tell if she had a delivery made more difficult because of the stress of being stuck in traffic. On the whole, they just don’t give a damn. One marcher tried to stop a group from smashing more store windows and what did they do? They bopped him in the head WITH A HAMMER!

Funny how when the ultra-leftwing press "reports" on protests.

I'm so sick of hearing the phrase "mostly peaceful" as an absolute prerequisite, before getting into the gritty trifles, like the fact that "mostly peaceful" protesters brought HAMMERS with them.

And are freaking burning down buildings and blocking highways.

Imagine for a second some conservative group protesting ANYTHING.

Now imagine a bonafide member even possessing a hammer.

THAT would be the lede.

VIOLENT rightwing activists descended upon peaceful town wielding hammers.

No injuries were reported, and no property damage noted. YET.

But we have our crack channel 7 investigators on the scene who will be there all night.
