Cultural shift on sexual assault: Why Bill Cosby allegations coming out now?

Because they need a distraction from obama and the democrat's "WAR ON THE CONSTITUTION AND THE AMERICAN WORKER"...

Yeah. The bruther man does not like the way Cos puts down those bruther men that does not take responsibility for themselves. Pants on the ground....daddies not around etc. he speaks out loud about it so they’re out to get him.....read THEY as the goons of the Regime. (Of course he might be guilty.....but no one accused him with any accountability in the past....some lawsuits are from 40+ year old incidents)

Thirty years ago interracial sexual relationships were less acceptable than today which may have stopped them from reporting the incidents. However, most of these ‘encounters’ appear to have taken place in hotel rooms or the Hefner house. Common sense tells us that in such an environment, the women should have anticipated some type of sexual advances and left the premises.

Not sure how old or experienced the women were, but they clearly were not sitting in a restaurant or hanging out at home when Cosby took advantage.

I do not condone what Cosby allegedly did but, what is the difference between him and Bill Clinton?

The NY Times has the knives out for Hillary. Either that, or they're just trying to get the narrative out early has to how she enabled her husband's own War on Women.

I'm stocking up on popcorn.

The third woman, Helen Hayes, said she met Cosby in the summer of 1973 in Pebble Beach where he grabbed her right breast at a restaurant.

Poor use of the word “met” - it’s not clear if she met him and later went on a date with him at the restaurant - or that he just walked up to her in a restaurant and grabbed her breast.

But thanks for the info;)

Then, Helen Hayes, a new Cosby accuser, told her story. She claimed to have an unfortunate encounter with Cosby in the summer of 1973 at a celebrity tennis tournament in Pebble Beach, California. Cosby allegedly stalked her and her friends all weekend.

“Bill found us again on Saturday night even though we had changed restaurants several times to avoid him,” said Hayes. “At first, we thought it was all right because it was day time, and because it was Bill Cosby. We felt we were safe. But then when he found us in the last restaurant, he approached me from behind and reached over my shoulder and grabbed my right breast. I was stunned, and angry, because he had no right to do that. And I didn’t know why he would behave that way. His behavior was like that of a predator.”

The fact that there seems to be no statute of limitations on these suits indicates that anyone of the Freepers could, and some certainly will be, sued over rape allegations.

Good grief - he IS a sexual predator. What is also appalling are the 15 year-old girls who stayed at the Hefner seduction center. Where were their parents???? Dazzled by celebrity or sold for sex?

perhaps a deterrent to such suits is the potential for generating standing for countersuits against the plaintiff by the defendant. IOW frivolous lawsuits are not to be filed lightly.

IANAL

because he says truths about the black community that are off the pc script. he doesn’t take pleasure in saying them either. i sure don’t .

can’t fix problems if you can’t admit they exist. or blame others for your own problems.

Cosby has denounced the ghetto culture and its negative affects on the black community.

At this point, just like in Ferguson, facts are irrelevant.

The Bill Cosby allegations reflect an evolving American understanding of the crime of sexual assault, and increased empathy toward those claiming to be victims, say victim advocates.

It boggles the mind to think some people actually believe this tripe. Folks, have any of you noticed a softening of your heart related to rape victims.

Speaking only for myself (and I suspect almost everyone else), I have always felt extreme empathy towards rape victims.

My only problem has been, that not every charge of rape is true. Any rational person has to consider this in every instance.

Consider the horror of you, your father, brother, son, nephew, or friend being accused when they didn't do it. It does happen. And when it happens, the stigma never goes away. NEVER! There will be people out there who will never believe you are innocent.

I've had people here say that if a guy is accused, he is without a doubt guilty. Simply amazing.

What these victim advocates (ultimately feminists) (and I have to term them that because of their obvious blind spot) want is for men to simply turn themselves in guilty or not, to receive what they have coming to them. Never-mind if they aren't guilty. After all, they are a member of that evil "Men" club.

That is absolutely incorrect, they took place in the women's homes, at meetings at Bill's homes in various states, on the beach, in restaurants, at parties, at studios where they worked with him, in the green room of the Tonight show on and other places than the (one?) at the Playboy mansion, and hotel suites.

He never really unloaded on the black community. His comments were more marketing to his audience of people older than sixty.
