It was twelve seconds.

That is a headlock, not a choke hold. No where near what a choke hold looks like.

So why does the NYPD Police Commissioner say it was a chokehold, not a headlock?

Then, in your estimation, he should still be alive and kicking, huh? Glad to know that....everybody, go home, nothing to see here......

-> Yes....to your estimation then a perp who does not comply gets the death penalty? with 5 or 6 goons around, he was not in control. THEY killed him because he didn’t submit to their authority. That is probably the thing that pi$$es them off most. They live to enforce their authority unchallenged. They flock to it.

I don’t agree in this stance nor the idea about tattoos making the cop having serious issues. I get it from you..cops love the ultimate authority and you don’t like this on this case or all cases. This wasn’t intentional. This case was an accident that the man died.

It may have been an accident, but hearing the words he spoke, the officers ignored him. He died. I would punish them financially to eternity. They are not gods.

If you want to address the real cause of this guy’s death, direct your attention to 0bama and Holder.

This guy was arrested many times before for the same crime, all without incident. Now 0bama has told and encouraged his people to fight back, except Baby Huey is well past his “use by” date and is in no shape to street fight like 0bama is telling him to.

His pre existing med conditions, his gross obesity, and his picking a fight is what killed him, nothing more.

Who would be a police officer? Who? Who is going to do the job? If you are a cop working in and out of the “community” for 20 years and then during the action of taking down a 350lb guy that’s resisting arrest you apply pressure to his back/neck for 12 seconds YOU GO TO PRISON?

Forget that, fend for yourself Grandma!

I bet someone could restrict your breathing just enough to cause you distress and yet you’d still be able to yell out.

I bet someone could wrap their arm around your neck to lift your jaw to immobilize you enough for others to handcuff the arms. He is huge and heavy. Sort of like cowboys taking steers down. Keeps the others from being bitten. They could do this without chocking. He died of a neck compression along with diabetes, too much fat, and asthma. Asphyxiation was not a cause. Hence not choked. Likely got the neck compression in the takedown.

So, a ‘neck compression’ is legal, then? He died as a result of police force, regardless of his health. He told the officers he could not breath - more than one time. They continued with his arrest. That, of course, was what was important...bag and tag it.

Perhaps the dumbass had his mouth in gear without engaging his brain first? He/she never did any organized wrestling, or never even bothered to watch the WWF staged events?

Don’t know, but Police Commissioners are politicians, and most, if not all, of what comes out of their mouths is BS.

The police should run away when someone says no? Every criminal that is getting the cuffs placed on for the 31st time and says “you’re breaking my arm” should be un-cuffed?

The NYPD and the city of New York is already saying they see a good issue for a civil case. The mayor hinted to that last night. I think everyone can see the liberal city will pay out to his family a settlement. The man’s mother is already saying that she needs help getting money for her Christmas. The family is hurting, yes, but granny is already talking about money, which seems very weird to me. Like, I said, I am very sorry this happened. I just can’t see here the cops wanted to end this man’s life. The cops involved will have to live with this for the now and answer to a higher authority. To me, that’s a sentence in itself.

When looking at the very picture that accompanies the article above, how can you call that a headlock & not a chokehold?

I never once said the guy should go to prison. Show me where. I said I’d award the plaintiffs (surviving family) millions because they (police) used excessive force and ignored the victim’s pleas. Go call somebody else Grandma.

I expect that police at least stop and check when someone indicates they cannot breathe. It is not the same as “too tight” etc.

The wind pipe and corrotteds are cradled, not being cut or restricted. The position of the off hand is wrong for applying necessary force, the body position of the guy on top is to pin, not choke.

Why are you calling it a choke?

This idiot resisted arrest and had been arrested numerous times for the same offense so he knew what the deal was as far as submitting to the police\. If he died its his fault for being obese and knowing he was prone to asthma attacks when stressed out. Yet resisting anyway

My only sympathy is for New York taxpayers who may have to pay out on a lawsuits

Wasn’t calling you Grandma, I meant it as reasoning for someone choosing not to accept a line of work protecting all Grannies.

I understand that the family will likely be rewarded in this case but that just makes me think about the Shop Keepers that called the police on this guy. How is the honest tax payer suppose to win? Everyone loses because this guy didn’t want to be arrested for the 31st time.

The entire incident was HIS doing.

Willfully ‘wanting’ really doesn’t matter here. Their actions resulted in the end of his life, regardless of whether his health was fragile or not. He made the required plea (to me, “I can’t breathe” suffices). He died.

As a juror in a civil trial, my vote goes to his side - millions. NYC is lucky I don’t live there.
