Writer on socialist site: I long for day saying ‘I had an abortion’ is like saying ‘I have the flu’

Over the last few years, the rallying cry of the pro-abortion movement has subtly shifted from making abortion “safe, legal, and rare” to celebrating “abortion on demand and without apology.” Women, the latter school of thought holds, should never entertain a second thought about the child they abort, regardless of the reasons for their decision.

A new school of radical feminists – and “freedom riders” from the Revolutionary Communist Party – have called on women to share happy, “blithe and unapologetic” abortion stories. If women can fake a smile long enough and say they aborted for the most trivial of reasons, perhaps the public will believe that abortion is harmless.

Emma Ayres of Amherst, Massachusetts, recently made such an attempt in a story written for the the Socialist Worker, the official organ of the International Socialist Organization.

After learning she was pregnant, she and her boyfriend “at the time” decided “abortion was the only solution.” "As a junior in college with no fiscal stability, I was in no place to be a mother," she writes.

She was quickly “connected with Planned Parenthood in Springfield,” where her decision to abort was perhaps not surprisingly “supported.”

Ayres writes that she was delighted that “the woman on the phone called it a pregnancy. Not a fetus, or a baby.” She also says she was happy not to be “subjected to the abusive requirement of looking at the ultrasound before the procedure. I was given a choice. I said no.”

Still, she recalls that after her “cold, lubed-up ultrasound,” an abortion facility staffer made small talk by asking what she liked to do. As she lay still and silent, waiting for the suction that would drown out their discussion, she told her: "I am playing Peter Pan. The production opens in two weeks."

Yet she cannot entirely keep up the charade. After the abortion, she writes in staccato phrases: “Didn't know how to feel. Boyfriend drove me home. Felt victorious. Wanted to forget. Feeling still lingers.”

She found in time that she would describe her abortion as “one of the simplest decisions of my life with the most painful aftermaths.” After the abortion, she writes, “I distracted myself from the personal grief” and “claustrophobic depression.”

But then the ideological advocacy returns.

“I dream of the day when letting a professor know 'I had an abortion' is like saying 'I have the flu.'” (She insists, “I am not trying to make this sound casual” but seeking to establish abortion's “normalcy leading to acceptance.”)

Ten days after the abortion, she writes, “I found myself in the Rand Theater, flying over an audience, playing Peter Pan."

Yet none of these things – the abortion and subsequent college play – would have happened unless she enjoyed a constellation of privileges, she writes.

“I am left staring at this list thinking how lucky I am,” she writes. “If these things hadn't lined up, I would have a one-week old child in my arms right now. This thought breaks my heart…I wouldn't have the opportunities that I have now if I had a child.”

Her story – of outward revelry and buried pain – brings sad new poignancy to the lyrics, “I won't grow up.”

And most people are totally unaware of this shift and its consequences.

Comparable to expecting people to read a tweet “having a bad day, left my kid to die in the hot car today” as nothing more than “having a bad day, dropped my cellphone in the toilet, FML!”

And I long for the day when abortion is not only illegal, but unthinkable.

...Felt victorious. Wanted to forget...

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Wanted to forget.

Medical science has been doing research on erasing bad memories.

Absent that, she better get ready for bad memory reflux disorder.

The author is still a long way from her utopia. Abortion is still about 80% black and Hispanic. So not everyone is doing it yet.

“And most people are totally unaware of this shift and its consequences.”

You’re probably right. I hadn’t heard this mantra before, but it is disgusting. It’s just indicative of where he have been heading in the world. We don’t value innocence anymore. What is sacred to us anymore?

I am so disillusioned that I don’t really have much ambition to be part of the world, and prefer to live apart as much as possible. I’m not a loner, and I see good people every day, but I just don’t care to engage the world.

Fortunately for most women, the contaminant that enteres the body and causes pregnancy is readily visible and can be avoided. Actually it’s not completely *invisible* to them like the influenza virus is. ;-)

Sorry, “lady”,

but it’s not a problem in the law or in society that’s tickling your conscience.

Your Creator wired that sense of right and wrong into your very being. You know it’s murder. You’ll always know it’s murder, and no matter how many affirming statements you get from the outside,

the inside of you will always convict you.

That’s what’s wrong with these people. Down-playing perversions will ultimately lead to downfall. People hardly ever have mental and emotional issues after having the flu. Neither do they typically have debilitating physical and reproductive consequences because of the flu (if they occur at all) to the same extent that women who have abortions do. It’s not even an accurate comparison. People don’t go out and get the flu in order to avoid their biological responsibilities.

“And most people are totally unaware of this shift and its consequences.”

What they want next is to mix pseudo-religious ritual with their abortion so they take a step closer to satanic human sacrifice. This has already started in small ways.

Is it not already so!

This is so bizarre. I do believe that this shift is largely due to the brainwashing students receive in our public schools, as well as from the media. They’re inundated by the liberal philosophy from the very beginning of their time in our educational system.

It is always good to point out to them that socialism and communism is (not “are”) a failed, useless, 19th Century parody of Christianity, and a proven failure across the board.

Socialists and communists are *reactionaries*, who nostalgically long for a mythical ideal that never was and never could be. Their world is one of decay, death, starvation and dehumanizing slavery that they fantasize as the springboard to paradise.

Their vanity, of Christian faith without God, but with themselves at the center of the universe, ends up much like the belief of Satan in Milton’s Paradise Lost:

“Here we may reign secure, and in my choyce
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell, then serve in Heav’n.”

Satan would assuredly call himself a “Progressive”, or even a “Liberal”, because his philosophy aligns itself most closely with these. They, all of them, revel in the Seven Deadly Sins; they curse God at every opportunity; they scheme for the day when they might overcome and replace Him; and yet they are never up to the task, for other than the lies of their vanity they are weak and helpless.

And this propels their desire for the End Times, that all of creation be annihilated, because its complexity overwhelms them. That creation must begin anew, in simplicity, with their reign.

Yet, with both, their Hell is of their making. A bitter parody of Heaven, both with horribly bloated bureaucracies, steeped in unsatisfying excess, and every toast they make at their banquets is for the destruction of the good, and that the Hell they have made is ready to receive the souls of all mankind as their slaves.

If those stupid, inferior humans would just “wise up” and vote for Hell.

Anybody who, at this point, does not recognize abortion for what it is, a human blood sacrifice to Ba’al is pretty much missing the boat. Why else does the left feel so entitled to power and why do they wield it with such a lack of self reflection. It is because they believe they deserve it because they are the ones who keep the innocent blood flowing and they demand thier earthly reward. It is this twisted sense of piety that drives them.
