Sorry seems to be the hardest word.
The latest Ferguson confrontation isn't taking place on the streets of the beleaguered city, but between the St. Louis County Police Department and the St. Louis Rams football team -- over an apology, or lack thereof.
The brouhaha started silently when five Rams players took to the field Sunday with their palms in the air -- showing the "hands up, don't shoot" gesture used by protesters decrying the police shooting death of unarmed black teen Michael Brown.
~snip~
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar sent an e-mail to his staff saying the Rams' chief operating officer called him Monday to apologize.
~snip~
But the Rams said that's just not true.
"We did not apologize," Rams spokesman Artis Twyman told CNN.

Blacks are 13% of the population... and about 90% of NFL starters. Where the hell is affirmative action.
Justice NFL... you have too many black players. Where are others of ‘color’. No Japanese players? No Koreans? Few whites? I suspect a racist NFL filled with race hatred and bias.
And shortly we will need the entire bagged snack manufacture capability of the USA to supply all the chips that will be on shoulders.
Liberals are very good at street theater, catchy slogans and visuals.
And this is a catchy visual for sure.
And it very effectively perpetuates the myth of the innocent black teenager gunned down like a dog.
But if they want to be more accurate they should be waving a fistful of Swisher Sweets in the air with one hand and
punching an imaginary small, short guy with the other.
On the other hand - maybe the decent people protesting the arsonists and looters should be doing that for the cameras
while wearing an "I Am Michael Brown" black hoodie.
People will yack about it for a day then forget it. That’s my take.
any lie or fiction to justify the cause donchano.
The conservative consensus would be either the hands up was made up, or it was part of a football style charge that other witnesses reported (one at the later cost of his life — you “don’t snitch”).
It would be curious to trace the rumor but that might need months of patient digging.
The real problem is too many black players - too many in proportion to the racial make-up of the country. If I want to watch violent black street gangs I'll watch re-runs of looters in Ferguson.
Where are the Asian players? Where are the American Indian players? Why so few whites?
The NFL is racist and hateful...
NFL and the NBA => promotion of THUG culture
“We did not apologize,” Rams spokesman Artis Twyman told CNN.
Artis huh?
Rams: Wins: 5, Losses: 7.
With a terrible record like that, they ought to focus more on football and less on black racism.
“Blacks are 13% of the population... and about 90% of NFL starters.”
Clearly whatever method the NFL is using to recruit its players is resulting in disparate impact”.
I demand that the NFL consider grade-point averages, clean criminal records and ability to read Hebrew and roll sushi until the makeup of the teams represents the populations of their communities.
For the Rams and NFL to claim that this is their First Amendment right, then if I was Johnny Football, I would DEMAND my money back, after he shot the finger during the pre-season and got fined!!!
I mean, hey, he was just exercising his 1st Amendment rights, right!!
By letting this stand, both the Rams organization and the NFL are backing the lies, the liars, the rioters, and the LOOTERS!
Let me see if I have this straight.
The players can put their hands up to show solidarity for a thug and not get punished, but the cops can’t wear anything that shows solidarity for Officer Wilson or else they’ll get punished. Do I have that right?
I grew up in St Louis..saw the Beatles there in 1964..used to be a lovely city..I now avoid eye contact whenever anyone asks where I’m from originally.
That isn’t all that bad for NFL league plays.
Well, if ya got time to work on racism then ya got time to improve that to be champs. A 5-7 record ain’t it.
If they were at all serious about their protest they would play the game in its entirety with their pants waist band down around their knees.
They are 5-7 and not going anywhere. The NFL will listen to their fans it hasn't been a banner year for NFL, young players are not playing Football anymore and those owners need Government financing
