Carson: Cops Could Be Trained to Shoot For The Legs
Breitbart TV ^ | 25 November 2014 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 11/30/2014 11:37:57 PM PST by shibumi

Dr. Ben Carson, author of "One Nation: What We Can All Do to Save America's Future," argued that while Officer Darren Wilson did nothing wrong in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, police should be better trained in non-lethal force such as shooting aggressors in the legs on Tuesday's "Hugh Hewitt Show."

>snip<

He specified "for instance, in a lot of places, police officers aren’t even allowed to go into the more dangerous areas by themselves. They’re always paired. Or you know, people use tasers, people learn how to shoot people in the legs to stop them from charging, things of that nature. And I seriously doubt that he’d been given that information."

For such a smart guy Dr. Carson is remarkably stupid.

If he really said that, then yes, he is totally stupid. Someone needs to tell him, that a perps legs float like a butterfly but the torso can sting like a bee, and in a firefight, they are lucky to hit anything, let alone the legs. We used to train to fire as fast as we possibly could, from 3 yards and 7 yards.

Why are there always stacked oil barrels, crates of watermelon (or a fruit cart), piles of empty boxes, etc. whenever there’s a car chase?

I think some people are in need of target practice shooting a gun where the targets can have unpredictable movement.

Shooting someone in the leg can kill them faster than in center mass shot especially if you hit their femoral artery and they bleed out in mere minutes versus a shot through a non vascular gut region.

Ben Carson will soon discover the effectiveness of shooting ones own foot.

Carson seems like a smart guy, but my experience with doctors, dentists and lawyers is that they learn their craft well but are often very linear when it comes to knowledge outside the box of their schooling.

Carson is a “nice guy” but not Presidential material.

Simply having the correct mindset isn't quite enough; otherwise we'd all be Presidential material. Seems as if everytime we FReepers come across a truly conservative black guy we're ready to jump right in and nominate him.

“Doable” only with a shotgun style round, inhumane loads, and the possibility of peppering a god awful number of bystanders and even then there’s no guarantee of a hit or even an incapacitation.
Is he ready to accept that fact?

That's probably because their schooling is so intensive, specialized and of such long duration. Not much time for anything else, really.

Ben Carson is not getting that he's not getting it on Second Amendment issues. Doesn't he have conservative advisors?

I never believed he had a chance of winning, but I thought he would make a good addition to the campaign mix. Maybe I was wrong. After they notice his ignorance of basic issues, the press will eat him alive.

Well Mr. Pediatric Neuro surgeon, let’s see if you can do brain surgery on a 12 month old baby with 10’ long scapels. Nothing to it right?

I could just see it - the standard sidearm is now The Judge and the standard round is .410/00Buck six “pellets” per round.

Collateral damage would be something to behold.

I hope this novelty act doesn't pollute the GOP primaries for long. We don't need vanity candidates like Carson to slow down debates and steal air time from contenders.

He just lost my vote. I’m ok that he’s out of his depth here. I’m not OK that he’s not smart enough to realize that and keep his trap shut.
