The federal government is on the brink of lifting restrictions put in place more than three decades ago when regulators, alarmed by the spread of the virus that causes AIDS, barred men who had sex with other men from donating blood.
A Food and Drug Administration advisory panel will begin a two-day meeting on the issue Tuesday, amid growing calls from medical groups, gay rights activists and lawmakers to jettison the ban as outdated and discriminatory.

I think this is an extremely poor decision, if they decide to allow gay men to donate blood for the sake of political correctness. The only communities where AIDS still runs rampant is amongst gay men and IV drug users. Everyone knows this, though few are willing to actually come out and say it. I’d probably rethink my decision to give regularly.
there already is unlimited aids funding.....even thought despite all their dire warnings, that disease has pretty much stayed in its original group, through in the drug users....
I hope the idiots who plan to do this all have to get blood transfusions at some point and get AIDS as a result. If they already have AIDS, I hope it’s something equally as nasty. There are enough medical problems to contend with, and we’re going to have to deal with more so the atypical deviants can feel like they are “normal”.
Note to self: buy Stock in companies developing synthetic blood....
But veterans like me who were stationed in Germany in the 1980’s are banned forever from donating! I gave blood after 9-11 & this cr@p came up only later!

As mentioned in related threads, the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate intrastate healthcare.
For many years liberals tried to get the US population to believe the lie that AIDS is just as widespread among heterosexuals as homosexuals but got laughed at and ridiculed.
Now they are determined to make it true.
While we`re at it, let`s start importing blood from West Africa, geez! What`s become of common sense!
