A march for racial justice Friday night turned ugly as hundreds of protesters converged on Union Square and frightened crowds of shoppers by smashing windows and attacking police.
Shopkeepers lowered metal gates to protect their entries while shoppers with children dashed inside the giant Macy’s store and cowered behind locked doors. Some protesters broke shop windows and screamed at police, while others threw objects including bottles at officers.
Several families ran from the protest area while hundreds crowded behind police lines at Union Square’s ice rink. An activist spray painted “F T P” (F—The Police) on an Apple Store, watched by dozens of wide-eyed shoppers huddled inside.

And spray paint the Apple store and then go home to post about their exploits on their iPhone or MacBook.
Bringing the “ferguson” crap to other cities is a bad move IMO. Because normal people and liberals might support your bogus cause from their TV set but they don’t want to see it in their own city.
In San Francisco you could probably convince some idiotic white liberals to take a few hours between yoga classes to protest in front of Walmart, but you may have to bus in the blacks.
Because (even in a city like Oakland) it’s not hard to imagine a black mother telling her punk son “WTF you doin out there marchin your ass in front of the Target? You crazy, boy? You looking to be the next one to get your stupid ass killed?”
Maybe Im naive but I give at least older black people the benefit of some sense. They may not be buying what Holder and obama and Sharpton are selling this time. If they are smart they probably know this will hurt black people more than it will help anything.
The Union Square Macy’s ‘sporting’ goods department consists of trendy clothes for the urban metrosexual.
This is so SF....the rent a mob of thugs decides to go and destroy things. I remember one Christmas when my daughter was about 10 (could have been 9 or 11.....I lose track of that these days) and the rent a thugs were on the prowl. She and I strode with confidence, did our stops at the shops we wanted to see, and ignored them entirely ( as did the police). The folks cowering in Macy’s (as they did in this protest) were harassed by these thugs because they showed fear.
My daughter at first was scared and I calmed her by saying we have business we need to take care of, ignore those fools. I must admit these days that attitude could get me killed or beaten nearly to death. So I am not necessarily condemning the sheep of SF I just know I handled it differently
It could be that he was protesting the lack of full-time positions in the present economy due to Obamacare.
So to get “justice” they willingly and intentionally place citizens in danger.
This is not about justice. It’s about tearing down the capitalist society we live in and replacing it with oppressive collectivism.
Democrats will act like Democrats, smashing, burning, looting. It’s a microcosm of what they want to do to everything.

SF is an international city. Lots of people from all over the world visit it. It is sobering to think this is the impression they’ll get of our country.

Exactly. I have (when I lived in the Bay Area) seen tourists harassed and yelled at and spit on by the vagrants in ‘The City’. I always made it a point to let them know that not every one is like that.....often times over a cup of coffee or some ice cream.

San Francisco that do not evolve into riots. My response was
that there are demonstrations there every day that do not
end in riots. Nobody hears about them because they are
peaceful. So, what? They are usually just dopey lefties
letting off steam. The violence prone groups you mention are
not the only wackos in San Francisco or anywhere else. I
just responded truthfully to your point (query?) and
added a bit of anti “protester” humor. You have a problem?
