Scientists have discovered a link between regular daily intake of the hot drink and a reduction of up to 20 per cent of the chances of developing dementia.
The report released today (thurs) from the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee highlights the role nutrition can play in preserving cognitive function, especially during the preclinical phase of Alzheimer's before full-blown symptoms of dementia occur.

My old dr retired and one of the first things my new one asked was if I drank coffee and I said no. He said it helped block Alzheimers. This was in 2009.
You should include my exercise regimen in your wellness plan.
Every morning when I wake up, it's up, down, up, down, 10 repetitions.
Then I do my other eye lid the same way.
That’s my idea of a coffee mug!
I think that at 82, you can have anything you want.
My mom drank a lot of coffee. She died 2 months short of her 103rd birthday. Her memory was great for someone that old.
Moderate coffee consumption may reduce risk of type 2 diabetes by 25 percent

My 93 yr old aunt passed about 3 yrs ago. She sucked down coffee every chance she got all day every day. She was still mentally fine when she passed. She had complications from pneumonia and was just tired.
Sorry that was 3 wks ago.
I drink three or four cups of coffee a day, when I don’t forget to.
Sorry for your loss. These holidays will be hard. God bless you. My daughter died in 04, brother, husband and bil in 06 and my mom in January, 07. This year has been very tough for some reason. God is the answer.
It also did not work for my Great-Grandmother. She drank plenty of coffee so I cannot rely on this study. This is not the first time I have heard of this coffee link.
I only have one cup of coffee per day.
Now, I normally refill it five, six, twelve times, but it’s the same cup!!
Funny!
Heh. My doctor constantly exhorts me to an exercise “regimen” and remains unimpressed by my recitation of yard work, stair climbing, swim laps, and squat thrusts that I do willy nilly. It’s been a few years actually, since I demonstrated my squat thrusts to some friends of mine, and found that they couldn’t even think of it! So doctor or no doctor, I feel like I’m ahead of the game.
Oh MamaB so sorry you lost so many in your family. It is so difficult to go on without our loved ones. God is the answer. Never feel alone
Thank you from my broken heart for thinking of me, dearest mojo114. I’d be alone without FR and God.
God bless and keep you both and everyone you love.
I only use one cup each day, although I continually top it off until the pot is empty.
Thanks.. People are amazed at how well I am doing. We do what we have to, to survive. My other daughter and I were in a store a few weeks after Jan died. We were near a display of kids’ punching bags. I told her I was like them. I may be knocked down but I pop right back up. We just have to depend on Jesus. He is the answer. He has helped me with my eye muscles surgery, too. I had surgery on the 7th on 2 eye muscles which had been torn in a fall. That went fine but I was not prepared for what is going on now. I have been back 2 times. They deaden my eye so she can use tweezers to stretch my eye muscles. It is really not as bad as it sounds. I can not say the same for when the feeling comes back. She told me today that I was her best patient because I did not move while she did the stretching. Frankly, I have no intention of moving with tweezers in my eye. I will have to have more surgeries after the first of the year. I really did damage when I fell. My late husband use to tell me I was an accident waiting to happen. Guess he was right again!
Sweetie we have been through many years of horrible illness and loss with mine and Hubby’s parents. As soon as we would go through one of them being ill and passing it seemed like it was the next ones turn.
I’m sorry for your losses. I still miss them all.
