Over the past 20 years, whites and blacks have experienced opposite trends in segregation. Asians, Hispanics and blacks are moving into historically white neighborhoods. Vastly fewer whites live surrounded by just other white people. Whites look around and see multi-ethnic neighbors. They perceive expanded opportunity and integration because that is what they see. And they think everyone else is experiencing the same things.
But a Washington Post analysis of Census data shows that the experience in historically African American neighborhoods of major cities has been far different, as they have remained heavily isolated. Whites, Asians and Hispanics are not moving into those neighborhoods, and blacks who remain there experience persistent segregation.
Indeed, nearly all-white neighborhoods in big cities are now virtually extinct. Nearly all-black neighborhoods, on the other hand, are still commonplace.

When I lived in Japan, there were a few neighborhoods known for a fair amount of crime (by Japanese standards), but I COULDN’T AFFORD TO LIVE IN THEM.
Yes, civilization is good.
The nearby McDonalds didn't serve milk shakes because their machine was broken. In the eight years I lived there, they never fixed the machine. Can you imagine a McDonalds franchise that did not serve milk shakes? Yet in the black neighborhood, that was situation normal.
I once bought a box of macaroni and cheese at the local Wynfield Foods grocery store. When I got home, I opened the cheese packet and noticed it was brown. Quickly checking the date on the box, I realized that it was five years out of date. FIVE YEARS! Yet they had no problem selling something that old to the black residents of that neighborhood.
And the most frustrating thing of all, is that black people were running each of these stores. It sucks living in a black neighborhood. Yet this is what these black people had to live with. Sure the schools suck. Sure there were occasional gun shots going off at night. Sure people did not have the money for the upkeep of their houses. But the little things show a different standard - a much lower one - that is being settled for in their community because they see no way of changing it. And the crazy thing is that they know deep down that white people won't put up with that crap. Yet they have no white people here to complain to.
Hamilton park; Newark ave & Monmouth st (*Marcianos gym will be the nexus) to the river and tunnel entrance is just about gentrified. 30 years ago, it was the hood. Grove st and Newport pavonia is business stops.
I used to take the train from hazlet to Newark to JC to box when I was 16.
I hit a dude with sock stuffed with my gym locker in ‘88., they were going to kick the craps out out of me.
Punched the first guy , knocked his arse out on shot. Hit the other guy with my sock with a lock.
My dad told me to put the lock in the sock; good advice.
Till this day, I can hear that wimper.
Instead of whites struggling to understand (fictional) black segregation, how about blacks spend some time trying to understand white inclusion?

In many if not most of the areas that have an all black population a white person can get robbed, beaten, murdered, etc. just for being there. That sure sounds like a place I would like to live. Not.
Who is responsible for black segregation in our inner cities? Most whites don’t care for black sports like knockout games, drive by shootings, gang rapes....
Blacks who aren’t satisfied with plantation living should quit voting for Democrats, and find jobs before the illegals get all of them.

It’s self-segregation and comes about when you attack your own for “acting white”.
Mine either, and being called a racist won’t shame me into a thing. I don’t even hear it anymore, it’s like all the witless reflexive profanity flying around these days. I just don’t hear it.
The entire premise of the article is that more diverse neighborhoods offer more opportunity and so blacks are at a disadvantage. There is no evidence that this is true other than the left believes it.
Ghandi was an Indian talking to Indians, so the heard him and acted on his words.
What American Blacks need is a liberal Black American they respect to tell them those exact same things: "Again, do this, and racism disappears in a generation. Work hard, fit in, be noble. And you can do this by respecting people, respecting yourself, and fitting in. And for God's sake, learn to speak clear "business English". And pull your pants up."
It worked for Ghandi and the Indians, and it would work for American Blacks, too - and in doing so, utterly destroy the Democrat Plantation powerbase.
If only we had someone here who could say these things like Cosby did in India...
