"I have heard of dogs being able to identify cancers. If you dont get it treated then the cat comes and ushers you to eternity." A patient walks into the doctor's office for a check up. The doctor tells the patient to lay down on the examination table, and brings his tabby tom into the room. The cat sniffs the patient from head to foot and the doctor carries the animal out of the room and returns with his retriever. The dog licks the patients hands and feet, and leaves the room, tail wagging.
The doctor tells the patient he can get dressed and meet him out front at the reception desk. Out front, the doctor tells the man he has a clean bill of health, and hands him a bill for $4,000. "What's that for?!?!?!" exclaims the patient.
The doctor replies, "You just had a cat scan and a lab test. They don't come cheap!"

Wasn’t this an episode on “House”?
Anyway, my Shirley McLainesque theory is that cats are vessels for souls and store then passing souls until they can find new vessels ...
OR, and this is a little weird, people that are close to death have high BUN/Creatinine levels that produce a certain smell that makes kitty stake out the soon to be departed food source.

Oh good grief.
It could be harking back to their tiger roots. The critter knows it is too small to get away with eating the victim. But maybe mama tiger will come along and help him.

I guess there is something to that "cats suck out peoples' breaths" thing The horror!

In the interest of full disclosure, this nursing home admitted the ‘cat’ is a actually a stray mountain lion they allowed to live on the premises.

I have a tuxedo cat. She’s a big cat. When I say “big” i mean it looks like she ATE another cat. When she sits on my chest early in the morning it doesn’t feel like I’m dying. It does however feel like I’m having a heart attack due to her weight. That’s one of her nicknames, “furry heart attack”. LOL.

Wasnt this an episode on House?Yes. "Here Kitty" Season 5, Episode 18. On the show the cat was attracted to the heated blankets all the dying patients had.

A cat with an uncanny ability to detect when nursing home patients are about to die has proven itself in around 50 cases by curling up with them in their final hours, according to a new book.I wish I could remember what that fallacy is called.
How many nursing patient deaths did it fail to "detect?"
What do all nursing home patients have in common?

My cats -and dog - know when we are sick. Their constant companionship at that time is their was of showing love and concern.
I’m sure Oscar comforted many a dying patient.

I thought they sucked the breath out of the young? ;-)
