"Afterward, Jackie recalls how three of her friends decided not to bring her to the hospital. "She's gonna be the girl who cried 'rape,' and we'll never be allowed into any frat party again," said one, a female. Jackie eventually reported the case to the school's Sexual Misconduct Board, but not to police, and the allegations went nowhere."

“Jackie eventually reported the case to the school’s Sexual Misconduct Board, but not to police, and the allegations went nowhere.”
Duh..
Maybe you shouldn’t use the word probe in the same sentence as a rape claim. :)
Yeah, I saw that. But that’s the way the title read, and by gar, I was going to see to it that it was not truncated. :)
The University President, Teresa Sullivan, got right on it after she read it in the newspaper.
The allegations sound unbelievable. It is almost word for word from several TV shows and a movie from 20+ years ago.
An accusation of rape is like one of pedophilia - while it seems to wreck havoc on the accused’s life who may be innocent, the need to stop future such situations, if not cries out to heaven for justice, require a just society to investigate. The accusers will be tormented, as will the accused. It sucks all around.
The public needs to know so additional victims may come forward, if they exist. It just sucks all around. Hopefully people just pray for both accused and accuser for justice and strengthened faith and the resilience of the innocent party.
Hold judgement; let the investigators collect evidence.
“The allegations sound unbelievable.”
Yeah, I’m surprised at how violent the frat boys were said to be. Usually that is not the case when we read these stories.
“It is almost word for word from several TV shows and a movie from 20+ years ago.”
True enough. The scary thing is that it still rings true. I think young men and women are so screwed up today that none of this is really that bizarre sounding (except for how violent the rape was).
I am not trying to blame the victims here, but I have NEVER UNDERSTOOD why any woman would want to take the incredible risk of “being the party” at a frat house. The stories about rape are so universally known that I just don’t understand how any woman would put herself in danger like that.
So, wise up, girlies. Throw your own sorority parties and only invite decent young men who can be trusted to behave appropriately. The heck with the frat @holes.
The reaction of her friends is intriguing. She claimed rape, but they were worried it would mean that they couldn’t go to any more frat parties. But hey, I guess you meet the coolest rapists at frat parties.
Young men with raging hormones, young women with raging hormones and alcohol. What could go wrong?
“Throw your own sorority parties and only invite decent young men who can be trusted to behave appropriately. The heck with the frat @holes.”
Yes, but then there would be another problem: The girls would have to pay for the party. The reason why college girls like frat parties is that they like getting in for free, drinking for free, getting high for free, and occasionally hooking up.
Many college girls are willing to allow themselves to be treated like a piece of meat (short of assault of course) if that means they can get their buzz on for free. I was always amazed at how many girls went to frat parties with literally nothing other than the clothes on their backs and their university ID or driver’s license. I would always think, “Gee, if something goes wrong at least the police will be able to identify your body since you’re carrying ID.”
Hey, women are equal in every way now. Let 'em pay! And in reality, no guy worth inviting is going to show up empty-handed anyway.
What if it isn’t true? See The Duke Lacrosse Frameup.
“And in reality, no guy worth inviting is going to show up empty-handed anyway.”
Have you been on a college campus lately? A lot of the college guys are losers who have no work ethic, treat women horribly, and have no manners. Many of them would show up empty handed (except maybe with some condoms, maybe, and they’re free at the student health center).
That crossed my mind. I was a constant contributor on the Duke LaCrosse threads, and I was one of the early skeptics.
Those are exactly the guys not worth inviting! A lot or many are not ALL. The girls should be picky if they want to meet decent people.

UVA suspends fraternities after report on gang rape allegation
This is very telling. The complaining witness hasn’t filed a complaint with the police. Why not?

No Formal Police Investigation Yet in UVA Rape Case
It IS very telling. She has made allegations which would send people to prison for many years, and has not yet made a report to the police.
