President Barack Obama and his surrogates argue that the president’s executive actions will hold illegal immigrants accountable and force them to pay their “fair share of taxes.” However there is a big question as to whether these illegal immigrants will be a net gain or loss to the Treasury.
Thursday night, President Obama announced a series of executive actions on immigration, including providing legal status to nearly five million illegal immigrants.
While part of Obama’s argument for legalizing millions of immigration law breakers is that they will now have to pay taxes, Fox Business’ Stuart Varney, Avik Roy at Forbes, and others point out that in fact many will actually be receiving money from the government because their income is so low.
“The president says you can stay and work if you pay taxes. Here’s the problem: Many of the people who are now allowed to stay do not earn enough to pay federal or state income taxes,” Varney said Friday on Fox News. “In fact they earn so little that they may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. That’s a check from the taxpayer to them in January because they earn so little.”(continued)

"Now that we have amnesty by fiat, these fine people will finally pay taxes like you and me -- shouldn't we reward them with some government checks? Isn't that fair?"

I marvel at the ignorance of allegedly educated GOPers and alleged conservatives, including McCain, Graham, Rubio, Ryan and the WSJ editorial board having so little clue about massive INCREASED illegal immigration when there is news of ANY amnesty.

Now I understand why so many people, especially middle-aged and older white males, are headed for the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Costa Rica and the like.
“Pay taxes” really means collecting refundable earned income tax credits while paying no federal income tax.

They will pay Social Security and Medicare. But that still is probably less than they’ll get from the tax credit.
I think many of them won’t bother doing one thing differently than they’re doing now.
Obama’s entire pitch was style and little substance.
Why would they go legal and get their name on a government list?
And how many of them will be voting Dem?
I think they’re voting Dem already.
So many states give them driver licenses and they use motor voter to register.
Millions of county workers are about to find themselves priced out of their jobs. A county road maintenance worker makes between $12 and $24 and hour, but these newly minted citizens will work for much less. I know a county road maintenance worker that is a diehard liberal. I hope he loses his job to an illegal alien.
