WASHINGTON, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi argues President Barack Obama has ample authority to take executive actions as many presidents before him have done, including President Abraham Lincoln. “Does the public know the Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order?” Pelosi asked reporters Thursday. “People have to understand how presidents have made change in our country, Congress catching up, and in the case of Ronald Reagan, improving what Congress has done.” Obama is poised to announce his long-anticipated executive actions on immigration Thursday night. Reports indicate he will move to grant legal status to about five million illegal immigrants.

The Emancipation Proclamation was a tactic to cause a slave uprising in the south and border states, it did nothing to free the slaves in Union States. That took the 13th amendment.

the traitor Lincoln also imprisoned members of congress who disagreed with him...

Simply stunning that these leftist tyrants...in order to allow illegals into the country and eventually to get their votes...

would compare the WILLFUL unlawful entry of an individual into a country, the WILLFUL remaining in that country, the WILLFUL working illegally and without paying taxes, the WILLFUL illegal acceptance of social handouts...

to slavery.

These disgusting tyrants deserve whatever evil comes their way.

Plus old leftys seem to go on forever.

I’m guessing 100, easy.

Yes, and it did not apply to the northern states, only those states who had already seceded. It was a paper tiger intended to inflame.

It worked.

Just as Obammie the Commie is hoping this will inflame some sort of insurrection that will allow him to crack down on US citizens.

Exactly, it was not an executive order. It was an act of war and it didn’t apply to union states that still had slavery.

During the revolutionary war the Dunmore proclamation was signed and was essentially the same thing.

Nancy Pelosi: ´The Emancipation Proclamation Was an Executive Order´

Which is why it was only valid in states that were in the act of rebellion.

Congress later had to do a Constitutional Amendment otherwise it would not have been valid after the war ended.

Is Nancy dearest suggesting that the country is in a state of civil war?
