Rick Perry: Texas might sue Barack Obama

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Texas Gov. Rick Perry said the Lone Star State might sue Barack Obama’s administration over the president’s planned executive order to grant relief to as many as 5 million undocumented immigrants.

“I think that’s probably a very real possibility,” Perry said during a panel here at the Republican Governors Association’s annual meeting.

Perry, who is considering another presidential bid in 2016, said the cost of illegal immigration is “extraordinary.” He said his state spends $12 million a month on securing the border.

Perry remarked that state Attorney General Greg Abbott, who was recently elected governor, has described his current job like this: “I go to the office, I sue Obama and I go home.”

Just which law will you place your trust in since this clown isnt following any law. The constitution? Really? With a congress that does not seem to care one whit about it either?

The Constitution isn't up to congress. It's up to We The People.

And yes, I place my trust in the consent of the people.

Regardless of your rhetoric, things are getting more conservative in the US. 2nd Amendment rights are more respected in every State, and abortion on demand is falling because States are making laws limiting the murder of babies.

Here is what should/could be done. The 30 some states that are willing to follow the founders ideals could get together and force those state out that will not.

If this clown pulls what he intends, and if the congress does NOT file impeachment, that will answer your question.

All the effn lawsuits in the world mean nothing unless they follow the supreme law of the land..or at least used to be.

False choice.

There are avenues that the States can take. Constitutional ones. This article is about the STATE, not federal congress.

And nothing can be done until he actually promulages an EO on illegal aliens.

Until then, he's living rent free in your head. And it seems to be working.

Some people, RINOs mostly, want to create a study group and sternly criticize the pres__ent's plan. By the way, it has not been announced, but it is already out there. It's been emailed to his supporters, and don't know if you heard, but he's going on TV tomorrow to tell us all about it....

Would be nice to be ready with a plan of attack the day after tomorrow. Good thing there are people around to remind us to calm down and await for Dear Leader's proposal before shouting and waving our arms.....people like the adults in the room, Boehnerwolf and McDumbell.

I’m not even the least bit sorry for believing this is a lot of gas...

Rick Perry’s carbon footprint is getting bigger by the minute...

I just don’t think even Greg Abbott, and the “new” team can stave off the inevitable...Not that they should not try...

We’ll just have to wait and see...Because in the end, that’s about all we can do at this point...

And where does naturalization fall? Not to the states I will grant you that. And that, is what this is about.

Immigration belongs to the states, and naturalization TO THE CONGRESS!

But, if he allows for more immigration, then he steps once again, on the states rights, in that, you have a point.

I suggest you re-read the constitution..but then again, there is no longer any constitution, so there is no point.

As for rent free? Ya I know. According to you, we should all wait till the C sucker completes what he intends to do, and has done. Let me know how that works out for you when the damage is done and you cant get it corrected. Obamacare ring a bell?

Have a nice time in your wait for the “proper” law to be enforced.

You are conflating State and Federal. This thread is about what the STATE can do. Not what the feds should do.

The States do have standing to get an injunction against unlawful EOs.

Much more standing than legislators do.

You have to wait for the EO before any action can be taken.

But you want a solution RIGHT NOW! That isn't going to happen.

So in a discussion about an illegal amnesty, we are limited to discussing only what Rick Perry should do, and should not discuss what Republicans and/or conservatives should do? Please be clear on the boundaries so I know who to discuss and when it is ok to discuss them. I am already made to understand that we can’t wave and shout until after Obama has spoken. I need to know the other rules. Please help me.

Evidence of Boehner is evidence of absence.

I am advocating that a plan of action be in place and ready to go Friday. I am doubtful there is one, in part because Boehner and McConnell, and to some extent, Perry, support what Obama is doing, but want to pretend that they don't. Evidence of support is evidence of absence, too.

You seem quite antagonistic to a number of posters in this thread, and very supportive of Republican leadership. Why?

The article and the thread are about Texas, not the federal government.

And I'm plenty fine on calling out liberal Republicans, and getting the bastards fired, if I can help do that, as I helped with Dewhurst.

I have NO use for liberals of any party. But this thread is about Texas, and what it can do. And arm waving about the federal (useless) congress isn't doing any good.

I'm doing my part by working to get Cornyn fired next election, and making sure that liberal bastard Perry will be replaced with a real conservative in January.

Perry waving his arms and shouting. He didn't wait for Obama to act. He's getting ready to. Abbott will do even more, I wager, but at least Perry will lay the groundwork.

Arm waving in congress would be good if we had leaders who were opposed to Obama. Instead, they just pretend to be for our benefit.

Glad to hear you are doing your part to get rid of some of them. It's going to be a while before Cornyn is gone, though. The time to get rid of him was this cycle. If you worked against him, then good for you. Too bad he was able to bamboozle the good people of Texas one more time.
