Boehner Promises Amnesty Bill, then Reelected Speaker - (Nov. 4 was a waste).
Conservative Review ^ | November 13th, 2014 | Daniel Horowitz

Posted on 11/15/2014 11:15:46 AM PST by INVAR

It’s as if the November 4 elections never occurred.

Today, the new House membership met in a private conclave and reelected every one of their top leaders by voice vote. This includes John Boehner (R-OH) as Speaker, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as Majority Leader, Steve Scalise (R-LA) as Majority Whip, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) as Conference Chair.

At a time of one of the worst constitutional crises in our nation’s history, when the president is threatening to imminently remake our society with immigration amnesty – a policy over which Congress holds absolute power – Republican leadership elections lacked any debate on strategy to stop this crisis. None of these people had to provide a platform or a commitment as to how they will deal with this dangerously imperial president. None of them had to make commitments to defund any and all lawless activity. They were all reelected by voice vote.

Even Saddam Hussein used to garner only 99% of the vote, but leadership did not want to conduct a traditional ballot in order to preclude members from voting present or writing in a different name.

We are in the midst of a severe constitutional crisis, with the president threatening to erase our borders and remake the country through illegal immigration, yet Boehner has already given in to Obama’s extortion by talking about the need for immigration deformity. With the upcoming budget bill being the last remaining check on Obama’s power, Boehner, McCarthy and their GOP leadership lieutenants are whipping support for long-term funding for everything Obama is requesting. Yet, today, there was no opposition at a time when Republicans could have made bold promises to one another.

Just hours before winning reelection to his speakership, Breitbart reported that Boehner said the following to Obama about paying his ransom on immigration:

After a White House meeting last week, Republicans described Speaker John Boehner aggressively confronting President Obama over the president's planned executive amnesty, prompting an extended period of a defensive Obama attempting to justify his actions. But a key moment of the meeting, left out from those accounts, was unveiled by Boehner himself in an exuberant moment of boasting in a closed-door meeting with GOP colleagues minutes ago. Boehner recalled telling Obama, “Mr. President, just give us one more chance to do this the right way. If we can't, then do what you gotta do.” So Boehner is telling Obama that he will have the green light to pass amnesty, but asked for permission to try one more time to pass it legislatively? I have this quote mentioned by Breitbart confirmed by several people in the room when Boehner said it.

Read that again. Boehner told the GOP conference behind closed doors that he told Obama he has the green light to shred our constitution and destroy our sovereignty if Republicans don’t do it through regular order. And then he was reelected Speaker just hours later!

This fight is not over, not by a long shot.

If Boehner ultimately follows through with this promise and either submits an amnesty bill or declines to defund Obama’s impending amnesty through the budget bill, House conservatives must fight Boehner’s Speaker nomination on the floor in January.

We all understand that the lonely few dozen conservatives feel powerless to stop Boehner. But just 30 members can block Boehner from winning 218 votes on the House floor. Those who are concerned about creating chaos on the House floor should focus on the chaos Obama and Boehner are creating for our future of our country by allowing this lawlessness to continue.

Game on. Conservatives will be watching.

So the Oligarchy marches on, and we have yet more proof that there's not a damn dime's worth of difference between the GOP or the Democrats.

Lawlessness is now being practiced by BOTH parties AND the defacto dictatorship they have empowered. It's almost as if the GOP leadership are actually part of Obama's team.

It will remain to be seen whether or not the Conservatives in the House will stand on principles and block the actual vote come January, but considering what is already being done by the GOP leadership to neuter any opposition to Obama I'm pretty sure silencing and marginalizing Conservatives is job #1.

Conservatism may already have been rendered politically irrelevant by the very party leadership we were threatened to vote for by the party hacks among us.

Well, LET’S JUST SEE how effective Boner is in getting Amnesty through.

Last time he tried, he got his BEST FRIEND, Eric Cantor, THROWN ON HIS ASS and he’s now off to K-Street.

So give it hell, Boner, but you will need to get something lose to 30 REPUBLICANS to buy into your scheme, and NOT A SINGLE ONE got elected for that reason.

everyone realizes that this is a story about a story that claims to have a source that heard something that has been disputed by other sources that claim to have been present . . . Right?

The massive noise in the media about Obama and Amnesty screens the fact that Boehner wants his own version of Amnesty in the end, he only disagrees with Obama about methods and details, not the notion of Amnesty.

Not surprising. If they perform as badly in early 2015 as they did in 2011-2013, we are going to need to organize a coordinated campaign to our elected officials to shake up the leadership. We have to give them a chance...even our most loyal allies were on board voting for the current leadership, so there’s nothing that can be done. Once they screw up, we have to get our hands dirty and enact change. Basically coordinate a 2016 congressional sit-out if they won’t do something. Congress has to get elected every 2 years, and they do respond to constituent action

The statements, actions and public announcements already made by the GOP leadership would indicate that this “story” is probably more legitimate than not.

We already have a legacy of fruits that show us that Boehner and the GOP leadership have been pushing Amnesty, and this past week after the election we already have the evidence that the GOP has surrendered the power of the purse and will vote for Obamas entire agenda in the CR it will pass and thus neuter the incoming Freshmen GOP Congress.

No kidding. I know people that know him. The man drinks and smokes one after another. He’s a sleaze.

The people I know don’t give a flip about abortion or gay marriage issues. They believe repubs need to move away from social issues. Boner is the same way. He just won’t public ally state it. All he really cares about is staying in power.

Marsha Blackburn for Speaker of the House.

There are so many reasons for Blackburn to take over the Speaker’s gavel. If nothing else she would be a new person for Obama to confront instead of the same two old white guys, Boehner and McConnell.
