(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Statement of SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry on the joint announcement that the United State and China have agreed to ambitious new goals for steep reductions in carbon emissions over the next two decades:
"The U.S.-China pact on bigger, faster reductions in carbon emissions is a victory for working people the world over. This climate pact by the world's two largest carbon emitters will result in not only healthier air, but healthier communities and healthier economies.
"We celebrate this victory on the heels of the biggest climate change protest in history, with a huge contingent of working people joining the call for action. We put the wind in the sails of world leaders and the result is more than we might have imagined just weeks ago.
"The Obama Administration has lead by example on climate and we hope more nations will emulate this progress by China and the United States for the good of all working people. A quicker transition to clean energy is good for jobs, for our communities and for a healthy future for the children we love.
"Working people and people who care about the environment will act more vigorously than ever before now to support these strong steps forward on clean energy and clean jobs."
Shutting down US industry is a what??
I’m beginning to see why the SEIU Walking Dead made this loon their president. She’s nuts!
Like the SEIU really care about workers/working people...
The newly unemployed (because of Obama) coal miners who are now voting Republican and helped ushered in the Republican wave don’t agree with her.
She is proving Gruber is correct.
Last night I watched the 1950 movie “I was a Communist for the FBI”. This would have fit perfectly in the movie.
What the moron doesn’t mention is the loss of high paying jobs, higher electricity and fuel prices and a downsizing of America’s already emaciated industrial engine.
That’s a victory for “working people?” Of course, Mary Kay Henry is not the one who’ll lose her job and suffer a reduced standard of living due to Obama’s radical climate change policies.
Its for the Little People she ostensibly cares so much about.
I used to hear it on XM Radio.
Killing jobs is always good for working people...at least in a marxist utopia.
It’s apparently good for working people. Who knew? Yeah, that a real good idear lady. Shut off the power to stop evil pollution and shut down the factories. Only thing I can come up with is liblogic.
SEIU and “working people” don’t belong in the same sentence.
What? I could see how someone could claim it helps environmentalists, but this does nothing positive for workers. This proposal isn’t about improving working conditions or anything like that.
Actually Obie got nothing new at all...China’s going on it’s own and said as much...they just gave him a carefully worded ‘document’ so he had something ‘to feed’ the likes of those such as this articles dingbat!
....”We put the wind in the sails of world leaders and the result is more than we might have imagined just weeks ago”....
Can’t this idiot read....they got NOTHING....me thinks the lady is making up stories.
It would be a no brainer, and extremely stupid. What color is the sky in that wench's world? If she went on trial, accused of having a working brain, would there be enough evidence to convict her?
Gentry liberals like Henry look down on working stiffs as slobs.
And she and her ilk wonder why union membership isn’t showing signs of growth.
Workers need friends like her like they need enemies.
She represents the interests of union goons everywhere; even if given the benefit of the doubt (and there is no doubt), at best she runs a union of gubmint ‘workers’.
Blue collar unions are so yesterday.
My Dad belonged to one. Those were the days when people had good jobs with paid benefits and good health care coverage.
Sadly, they’re a dying segment because our country no longer produces anything for our own needs and for export abroad.
