Landrieu pushes Keystone vote in bid to boost energy industry, runoff chances

Sen. Mary Landrieu is looking for a win-win, as she pushes for a Senate vote to approve the long-delayed Keystone pipeline in a bid to deliver a victory for the energy industry -- and for herself, in a tough runoff election next month.

The senator is facing Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy after being forced into the runoff. Within hours of returning to Capitol Hill, Landrieu called for a Senate vote on the Keystone bill, which is now teed up for next Tuesday.

Republicans responded swiftly to Landrieu's maneuvering, scheduling a vote in the House as early as Thursday on an identical bill sponsored by Cassidy.

The back-and-forth amounts to a continuation of their bitter Senate campaign, with one of the most controversial energy projects in America caught in the middle. The TransCanada-built pipeline, which would cross over an aquifer in Nebraska, has been held up for six years by environmental and other concerns

They could have done this years ago. What a transparent ploy to save her sizable rear. It’s a lose-lose, since it will be vetoed and she’ll lose the runoff.

No worries. Beneath what used to be just-a-pretty-face is a panic-stricken career lib who has spent it all on milking the gullible voters.

It has ended, Mary

She should be nailed for her bribed support of Obamacare. RNC should be running the Gruber clips with clips of sweet cheeks supporting Obamacare.

Rush talking about this now, skewering her on her last minute change of heart in an attempt to save her seat.

If she really wanted to save her seat, she would push for the repeal of ACA.

Landrieu is hoping that the Republicans in LA will sit the election out,
so she has an easy win against her opponent

*******************

Turnout is going to be the key for this runoff which is on a saturday. There is
only one statewide race, that being for Senator and two Congressional districts
with runoffs. The remaing races are judges, other court races and a few local
races. In addition, hunting season (duck and deer) is going on which may take
a few away from the polls, etc.

So who can get their voters to the polls is the key ..

I wondered why Boehner would do this now given how desperate Landrieu is for this issue.

I suppose Boehner saw more campaign upside to say that this was a Cassidy bill and that Landrieu is a follower, not a leader?

If so, what is his expectation of the MSM playing along with that meme instead of giving Landrieu all the credit to boost her campaign?

Can’t help but notice how UTTERLY SILENT the liberals are about the Keystone Vote, when just a few short years ago, the TV told them to be outraged, and stop the pipeline.

THE ASSOCIATION

“Along Comes Mary”

Every time I think that I’m the only one who’s lonely
Someone calls on me
And every now and then I spend my time in rhyme and verse
And curse those faults in me

And then along comes Mary
And does she want to give me kicks, and be my steady chick
And give me pick of memories
Or maybe rather gather tales of all the fails and tribulations
No one ever sees

When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch

When vague desire is the fire in the eyes of chicks
Whose sickness is the games they play
And when the masquerade is played and neighbor folks make jokes
As who is most to blame today

And then along comes Mary
And does she want to set them free, and let them see reality
From where she got her name
And will they struggle much when told that such a tender touch as hers
Will make them not the same

When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch

And when the morning of the warning’s passed, the gassed
And flaccid kids are flung across the stars
The psychodramas and the traumas gone
The songs are left unsung and hung upon the scars

And then along comes Mary
And does she want to see the stains, the dead remains of all the pains
She left the night before
Or will their waking eyes reflect the lies, and make them
Realize their urgent cry for sight no more

When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch

It’s partly innoculation to insulate Cassidy and present him as out front and acting as a leader on this.

Partly it’s setting up Keystone as veto bait for Obama. He signs it, and more of the LA environmentalists will stay home and he eats long-term anger by the national enviros.

He vetoes it and Cassidy starts running ads about sending Obama a message by sending Mary home.

Rock/hard place situation for Mary.

Guess it’s over, the votes are gone.
What’s the use of tryin’ to hang on?
Somewhere you lost the key
So little left for you and me and it’s clear to see

Too much, too little, too late to ever try again
Too much, too little, too late, you knew it had to end . . .

Sen. Mary Landrieu is looking for a win-win

Win - we get the pipeline

Win - Landrieu defeated and retires to her home in Washington
