Alabamian’s anti-veterans rant lands him in serious hot water

It looks like what we have here is a classic case of when “keeping it real” goes wrong.

On Veterans Day, while most Americans were thanking members of the U.S. armed forces for their service and enjoying their community’s holiday festivities, Michael Schuette of Anniston, Alabama took to Facebook to explain that veterans are not American heroes. In fact, he believes they “kill for profit,” “terrorize” other countries, have “never sacrificed for this country” and do “nothing for the American citizens.”

So let’s say I open a shop selling saddles and tack and feed, and then I rent a giant billboard stating that I think that anyone who rides a horse is a moron and that we shouldn’t be exploiting other species like that. And then I wonder what happened to my business. Some people are too stupid to breathe.

Veterans are the biggest customers of this nitwit. Anniston is home of the M1 surplus store. I was just about to go down there to get mine.

Where have these people been other than taking people’s moneys?

In his online rant, Michael Schuette wrote:
"YOU WANNA MEET HERO'S???? Well shake hands with CIVILIAN EMT's, Nurses, Firefighters, Lawyers,..."

He's banking on his local government allies keeping his business going. It's an anti-veteran movement that's been going on for decades in some local government circles. I've seen some extreme anti-veteran sentiment in several municipal and county police offices.

"Veterans are the biggest customers of this nitwit."

Local officials with big debt/revenues are his biggest customers, as the situation is with many firearms stores.

His rant sounds like one a professor named Mascitra or something like that wrote at Salon.com the other day, calling our veterans killers and losers, etc.

Anyway, Schuette sounds like a bitter old man for reasons unknown, but I just wanted to let him know we will be burying my Father-In-Law, Lt. Col. James Lucore, in Arlington Cemetery in the near future (95 years old). A veteran of the Pacific campaigns from Inawetok, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, etc. Then spend another 16 years in covert ops which helped check Soviet expansion in Europe.

We don’t know how many metals he was awarded, or any details about three possible Purple Hearts (his unit, the 75th JASCO), took up to 70% casualties on Iwo and the other islands.

He was a quiet hero. Never really talked about him service until he was dying, and then not in any real detail.

One of his pall-bearers will be my son (Spc) Joshua Friedman, 299th Army Engineers (MRB), whose unit won a Presidential Unit Citation on April 3, 2003, by putting up the first ribbon-(Pontoon) bridge (across the Euphrates, under fire) in modern US military history. This allowed our light armor and vehicles to simultaneously cross the river for the 3rd ID’s drive on Baghdad which helped end the war.

Our armed forces liberated 25 million Moslems and Christians from a tyrant, Saddam Hussein. That was the work of heroes. Unfortunately Michael Schuette forgot to read the newspapers or watch TV during that time. If anything, he is the “anti-hero” and a loser, and nothing is going to change that.

He has self-branded himself for all time and must live with his warped shame.

I think I’ll call my Vietnam veterans friends tonight and just say “thanks”, again. They are “winners” and “heroes”, from Tet to the torture sessions at the Hanoi Hilton.

. Didn’t see Schuette there. Now I know why.

At his age if he used the VA for any medical treatment they will have his records. Get them from your congressman. You will need his DD214, and a letter requesting the records and you can also request any replacement medals or ribbons. If any of the medals have engraving on them it takes longer. It took me nearly 4 months as Dad had a Bronze Star and it was engraved with his name on it.

Most records of that time period were burned in a fire. But if he used the VA for any reason they have copies. Right down to your birth records.

You won’t get all the info, but enough for preserving his great history. I did that for my late dad. And made a shadow box with his medals, and a brief story and photo of him in uniform and climbing that telegraph pole on The ROCK.

I hope the business totally flops and he has to deliver pizzas for a living. It is what jerks like him deserve.

I would agree with you outside of York County/Portland. Sadly, that’s where all your population is. I was heartened however to see that you finally have a normal person and that the GOP there had the good sense to kick Kevin Raye to the curb.

Kevin Raye and his family makes Raye’s Mustard, which is the best mustard I’ve ever tasted. It comes in 25 flavors, according to Kevin Raye, who was on the news the other night at his company.

That being said, Kevin Raye is a RINO, who was defeated by now Congressman-Elect Bruce Poliquin, a conservative who beat Raye in the GOP primary last June by 10 points.
