Ben Carson and the Second Amendment

What he basically said was that he supports the Second Amendment, BUT. He believes people should have guns, unless your local government bans them, in which case he’s okay with that, so long as you live in a densely populated area. If you’re out in the boonies, it’s fine. Why would that be? Why would your Second Amendment rights be dependent upon the population density of the place where you live?

Carson is a fine and gifted doctor and humanitarian but not Presidential material for just this and quite another stands, IMHO.

It is going to become very difficulty to oppose him on legitimate grounds as so many (including some here) are into counting heads according to skin color.

Disqualifier. As if there weren’t already several against Dr. Carson.

Starting to have my doubts about this guy, including his love of affirmative action.

He is getting grilled on his Facebook page, so far his attempts to handle this have been lame.

Ben's star is fading.
Doesn't come off as very knowledgeable about the Founding principles to be a conservative candidate for high office.

Our next president will need a Surgeon General.

I might like seeing him as Sec of HHS.
But president?
No.

Folks, let’s not allow ourselves to fall into a self-set trap of having too many conservatives (or semi-conservatives) to support for the 2016 election. We need to EARLY rally around a PROVEN constitutional conservative such as TED CRUZ. While an admirable person, Ben Carson could become 2016’s Herman Cain — — a fresh face which merely distracts from our efforts to prevent the GOPe from once again succeed in nominating a RINO.

Ted Cruz 2016.

Prosecute criminals and send them to prison.

Access to weapons is NOT what makes them criminals.

How about we see what Cruz can accomplish in the Senate over the next several months. We need a leader there, now.

(And for 2016, we will probably, like the Dems, see a different flavor of the week as a long line of erstwhile candidates step up for their 15-minutes. Popcorn time.)

Well, that run for President did not last long. Did not take long for the first wheel to fall off the cart.

The 2nd Amendment is not negotiable.
It is a bell-weather of how a person values freedom and liberty.

Just grabbed this off of what appears to be his Facebook page:

For your information.

I feel that the Second Amendment is vitally important. I would NEVER COMPROMISE the Second Amendment in any way. It was put there for very specific reasons: so that the people could act and support the military in case of an invasion, but more importantly, so the people could protect themselves from an overly aggressive government. We absolutely cannot compromise that. You have a right to bear arms.

There are areas of our society where there is an inordinate amount of gun violence, and sometimes very heavy weaponry is utilized. What we need to be able to do is sit down and have a discussion, such as the following: “Is there a way to ameliorate that situation? Is there a way to keep weapons out of the hands of people who are mentally ill without compromising any provision of the Second Amendment?” We need to be able to do that.
