Student photos of skimpy Michelle O lunches raise ire of parents

HASKELL, Okla. – A chicken patty, small scoop of mashed potatoes and carton of milk aren’t enough to sustain a high school boy.

But under the school lunch regulations championed by First Lady Michelle Obama, that’s what Haskell High School served recently.

Haskell High School senior Darrel Bunch took a photo of one of his recent skimpy school lunches and sent it to Fox 23.

“It’s mostly the portions,” Bunch says. “Last year we started getting less food.”

“Last year, my boys started calling me, ‘Can you please bring me something to eat?’ ‘We’re still hungry,’ or, ‘This is gross,” the student’s mother, Cheryl Bunch tells the news station.

Another photo taken by a different student showed a single cheese-filled bread stick with marinara sauce.

"When they serve a bread stick and marinara, it’s like, ‘Here, I’ve given up on trying to find you something nutritious and healthy,'” Cheryl Bunch says.

The school refused to allow the news station to show that day’s lunch servings. They wouldn’t even speak on camera.

Haskell superintendent Sharon Herrington defended the lunches off-camera, saying students are offered five items and they are required to take three. That means the chicken patty, glob of potatoes and milk would qualify as a complete lunch under the federal rules.

You know that mooochelles kids don’t get fed the crap or portions that she pushes on the public school children of America. I mean, come on her kids having to eat what the commoners eat.

>> “Years ago, the left raked Ronald Reagan over the coals when he suggested that ketchup was a vegetable.” <<

.
That statement is false from top to bottom!

.
Ronald Reagan never said “catsup is a vegetable,” it merely was listed on the vegetable side of an ingredient list of acceptable items for school lunches.

.

Every day I hear PSAs on the radio complaining that the kids are going hungry each day. The PSAs want people to give to food banks. The number of hungry kids ranges from 13 to 17 million, depending on the ad and the celebrity involved in it.

==

I wonder why? Almost any family or adult who state they have no income can qualify for emergency EBT/food stamps.

“In the richest country in the world children go hungry because of an unelected fat-azz in the White House who eats like a Budweiser Clydesdale.”

What can I say? If you want more food, don’t expect the government to give it to you for free.

Say what??

If you're the right color, not only you can, but you are constantly encouraged to demand it! ---or else.

Not many lightweights in the privileged subclass...

Kids aren’t allowed to brown bag it.

These kids should be organizing lunch runs, many high schools let kids leave campus for lunch.

“There’s nothing more pathetic than the notion of having your government serve you lunch. If people can’t even do this themselves, then we are truly a country of misfits and losers.”

Agree. It is pathetic. Make your kid their own damn lunch!

The parents should be raising hell with the school boards and governors. Let the governors raise a stink if the hero of benghazi tries to cut off funds.

I still haven’t figured out this school lunch debacle. My oldest son switched to public school this year and I asked him a few times about the lunches, being careful not to be leading about it and he claims the food is really good. Are all public schools under the same mandates? I can tell you this, if the lunch was any less than a man-sized lunch, he would be up in arms when he got home. He’s eating our fortunes at home right now (hes almost 14).
