School officials in one Wisconsin town have taken irrational fears of firearms to a new low. According to WEAU, the Eau Claire School District has cancelled their annual Veteran’s Day Program because they’re worried about “uneasiness” over the traditional 21 gun salute.
Keep in mind a Veteran’s Day 21 gun salute uses blanks. And those blanks are fired from show piece guns that are mechanically altered so that they can not fire real bullets. And keep in mind, that 21 gun salute, and those blanks, and those show piece guns are used by military veterans – men and women who would lay down their lives in service to others.

Is there something in the water up there? There is a lot of wacky irrational stuff coming out of Wisconsin.
Not surprising in a world where a half-eaten Pop-Tart is a deadly weapon.
These (the ones who banned the Veterans ceremony) are the same people who put up the blue fist signs, circulated recall petitions, and occupied the Capitol almost four years ago.

Just remember. Most schools have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to
common sense.
I am sure if this was to saute May Day, the School board would have no problem with it.

I can beat this story! Our local American Legion had members at the local HS Homecoming game for presentation of colors. As usual, they had their ceremonial rifles (these guys are mostly Korea or Vietnam Vets).
As they were packing up after the National Anthem, they were harangued by two moronic harpies about bringing “guns” onto campus. The shrews were threatening to go to the school board to see that such a thing would never happen again. Hopefully, the Board had enough sense to throw them out of the meeting.
They could do the 21 gun salute with pop tarts. Just as scary to some.
They could use pink fake guns which eject a flag with “bang” written on it.
The school officials should be reeducated about American History and figure out what Country they live in.
Maybe they will just declare a snow day tomorrow and avoid the whole situation.
Note to journalist... it’s almost certainly a “Three Shot Volley,” not a 21 Gun Salute.
If it’s 7 soldiers firing 3 shots then it’s a Three Shot Volley.
21 Gun Salutes are for presidential funerals and such.
