Wisconsin Three-Peat: Why no one can beat Scott Walker.
Slate ^ | 11/6/2014 | Betsy Woodruff

“First off, I want to thank God.”

Gov. Scott Walker had just come on stage at the State Fair Exposition Center to give his third victory speech in four years, and the supporters mashed up in front of the stage were totally losing it.

“I want to thank God for his abundant grace and mercy,” Walker continued. “Win or lose, it is more than sufficient for each and every one of us.”

The crowd exploded.

It’s nice of Walker to throw in that “win or lose” line, but he didn’t really need it. Walker doesn’t lose. The governor first got elected in 2010 by 5.8 points, won an acrimonious recall election in 2012 by 6.8 points, and looks set to win his first real re-election bid by about 6 points.

Walker’s supporters at the victory party were elated but not surprised. They argued his win was in the cards from jump street, that Democratic nominee Mary Burke’s dependence on out-of-state support backfired, and that Walker’s superhuman ability to stay on message made re-election way easier than it looked to many (including me!). The governor had a straightforward strategy, and he stuck to it.

Wisconsin Republicans expect the final voting data to confirm that Walker won in large part because he took Fox Valley in northeast Wisconsin. That region, which includes Green Bay, is the state’s second largest media market (after Milwaukee and before Madison). Walker visited the area about a dozen times in the past two weeks of the campaign, according to Wisconsin GOP First Vice Chairman Brian Schimming, and he had a robust field operation there.

To be fair, he had a robust field operation everywhere, with 23 offices around the state and an effective grass-roots organization.

The failed recall attempt caused Michigan democrats to drop their attempt to recall Rick Snyder in Michigan.

Scott Walker is:

• Conservative
• Likable
• A proven winner (won statewide three times in four years in an Obama state)

He's the perfect combination of electable and conservative. I can't fathom why he's at 1% nationally in the 2016 primary polls, while Jeb Bush is at top.

Very good, but may I ask — What’s his stance on illegal immigration?

After the unions and dimoKKKRATS did everything they could to take him out. They spent millions upon millions and it still did not work. By the way no thinks Christy who controlled the governors money bag for re-election.

I don’t know. I can’t imagine he deals much with that issue, as a non-federal politician, and one who is in a non-southern border state.

RE: I don’t know. I can’t imagine he deals much with that issue, as a non-federal politician, and one who is in a non-southern border state.

The reason I ask is because he is now being eyed by a lot of conservatives to be the Presidential candidate for 2016.

It might not be in his job description now, but sooner or later, IMMIGRATION will be an issue.

Walker has been trying for years to keep illegal aliens from Illinois from pouring across his southern border {especially Bear's fans}.

My question is: Will conserative Freepers consider him an actuall conservative Republican or do they view him as “just another RINO”?

My personal view is that he is a good conservative.

"They spent millions upon millions and it still did not work."

And we, in Wisconsin, appreciate them for their dollars, er, "efforts" I mean. Don't stop now. Just keep trying. Let's get Wisconsin's economy really rolling.

The trouble is, the vast majority of that money is pumped into the lamestream media. Why else do you think they work so hard to keep everybody ginned up and at each other's throats? The media profits handsomely from division.

Cute. He’s not pro-Amnesty:

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/11/19/Exclusive-Gov-Scott-Walker-I-don-t-support-amnesty-or-pathway-to-citizenship-mainstream-took-me-out-of-context

This has been tried again and again and again. He has clearly stated he’s a “close the front door” i.e. tight border security supporter. The context during the interview was “would you support immigration reform” his answer “yes, would consider it - but only after we close the front door.” Liberal media ran around pushing this canard high and low. They new it would hurt him.

In the Slate comments, “Koch brothers bought the election” is part of almost every single liberal post.

I wonder who pays them to type that tripe.

The link was a mistake...a pic of Chuck Yeager I posted on the Virgin Galactic Pilot thread about the survivor of that crash.

Here's the link about Walker's support for a "path-to-citizenship," dated from July 2013:

Gov. Walker backs citizenship pathway for illegal immigrants

Deny it all you want---he was for amnesty before he as against it.
