Tim Scott Schools Roberts: Key To Future is Freedom, Not Government
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/06/2014 6:34:00 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

If Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina isn't already on 2016 GOP VP shortlists, perhaps he should be. His appearance on today's Morning Joe could hardly have been a more impressive audition.

When Scott expressed his concern for kids growing up in poverty, Roberts equated such concern with supporting a laundry list of liberal agenda items, implictly faulting Scott for his opposition to them. Scott responded by taking Roberts to school in an entirely undefensive manner. He reminded Roberts that 40 years of Dem congressional rule and a bigger-than-ever government, actually led to a significant increase in black poverty. Individual freedom, economic opportunity and education--not more government programs--are the keys to progress, explained Scott.

You rock Tim. Seems you have a better grasp on reality than these asshats who actually do live with celebrity privilege and a lot of them with a dash of white privilege too. Congratulations on the win.

What the GOPe needs to understand is the key to addressing the demographic shift in the USA is not compromising principles, it is finding and electing more conservative candidates like Tim Scott, Mia Love, Tim Cruz, Marco Rubio, Nicki Haley, Susan Martinez, and Bobby Jindal. Add to the already impressive list of Americans who happen to be minorities in public office instead of playing the leftist game of pandering to groups.

Right on! Someone who sees clearly: An Uppity black MAN.

Thank you, sir, may I have another, and another, and another, etc.!

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's bizarre how we went from yuppies to pajama boys in mama's basement in about a decade or so here in Roberts' America.

Spot on and very well said. There should be a FR repository for posts like yours that capture fundamental principles and make succinct important points.

If the GOP/Conservatives want to try with the black community this is the guy and approach they should use.

Keep it simple and attack the brand.

Democrats failed the black community in the PAST.
Democrats are failing the black community NOW.
Democrats will fail the black community in the FUTURE.

BTW, Scott should have hammered Roberts for getting his talking points from institutions which continue to fail the black community.

Okay, except for one thing, Tim is not a “black dude” he is a man who seems, as far as I can tell, to actually say what he means and mean what he says which is an astounding thing to see in a United States Senator these days. Not the smoothest talker I have ever seen but that only makes him more impressive to me. I am sick of slick talkers.

Some twenty years or so back I read an article in an invesment advisory bulletin saying that IF THE UNITED STATES IS TO BE SAVED IT WILL BE SAVED BY BLACK MALES BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN DO IT. The gist was that black men can say what needs to be said, white men cannot be heard above the cries of racism if they say what should be said.
