Some call the fear and hate ad campaigns being orchestrated by Democratic Party supporters to boost black turnout in next Tuesday’s congressional elections desperation.
I call it pathetic.
The way for a Party to get support is to deliver success. When there is no record of success, lies, distortion, and fear become the operative tools, in hope that uninformed voters will buy the garbage.
Black voters are becoming more politically engaged than ever, which means they are also becoming more politically informed than ever. This is why the sick ads being run on behalf of Democrats in battleground states, designed not to inform but to provoke fear in black voters, are likely to backfire
A flyer being distributed by Georgia’s Democratic Party shows two dark-skinned black children holding a sign saying “Don’t Shoot,” suggesting that somehow voting for Democrat candidate Michelle Nunn will stop a tragedy in Georgia, like the recent shooting of black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri by a police officer.
Or an ad in North Carolina suggesting that a vote for Democrat Kay Hagan will prevent President Obama from being impeached.
Another in Arkansas shows pictures of blacks in distress and suggests that conservatives are out to strip blacks of their rights and protections under the law.
There could not be a more telling sign that many Democrat candidates are about to be turned away by voters than the large sums of money being spent targeting the Democratic Party’s most loyal constituency, blacks, knowing that they are losing interest because there is no good news.
But here’s the worst part.
A sizeable chunk of the funds paying for this fear and disinformation campaign is coming from groups who really are hurting black Americans.
Certainly there is nothing more damaging to black progress and improvement then the concentration of failing public schools in black urban areas.
As I wrote several weeks ago, days before Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson, Missouri, he received his useless high school diploma from a public school that had just lost its accreditation from the Missouri State Board of Education.
If there is anything that black Americans are becoming more aware of is the desperate need for alternatives to public schools.
And no groups are more committed to making sure those alternatives do not become available than America’s two huge teachers unions – the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers.
Combined funding to candidates, uniformly Democrats, from these two unions in this campaign cycle stands currently at $34 million. But over and above this, combined independent expenditures of the two unions, which find their way into ads like the ones described above, stand at $6.7 million. These are among the largest independent expenditures of any groups in the country and they 100 percent go to either attacking Republicans or supporting Democrats.
Then we have Planned Parenthood of America and its affiliates around the nation, with independent expenditures – again 100 percent of which go to either attacking Republicans or supporting Democrats – and certainly going into these black-focused ad campaigns – of $5.3 million.
Planned Parenthood clinics target black women, who account for 7 percent of the nation’s women of childbearing age and 35 percent of the nation’s abortions.
Combined independent expenditures of the teachers unions and Planned Parenthood total $12 million, which ranks at number 14 of the 150 plus groups making independent expenditures in the nation.
What more do blacks need to know than that the sick, vacuous political campaign of hate and fear targeting them is significantly financed by those who want to assure that poor black children stay in failing schools and that unborn black children do not enter the world.
Black Americans need their children educated, their families intact and healthy, and jobs.
Democrats have failed them across the board. Well-financed lies won’t mask the truth.
It’s time for change, and blacks and Democrats know it.
We will see.
I am not so sure. Critical thinking skills have been destroyed by the government schools. I don't know if most people are capable of "getting it".

THEY will never change their minds. Heck... I have relatives who think they are STILL voting for the FDR Democratic party!
It really only takes a good look around one’s environment, assess what they really have in terms of any sort of equity (assets) in finances, jobs that don’t relate to ‘fries’, and a whole manner of real benefit for blacks to see the Democrat party promised but did not ever deliver. They never intend to deliver, in fact.
Democrats never intended to free blacks from the government plantation - that would be akin to freeing the slaves, and once freed, the promises get much, much harder to deliver upon.

Sorry, wrong. Reports from early voting indicate a very heavy turnout of black voters here in Georgia, where the only real issue is support for Obama.
All the ‘rats have to say is “Republicans are a bunch of white people”, and they’ll get their 90+% of the vote.
I think you’re over reading Ms Parker’s point - she is not saying that none of them will be confused - just that enough won’t be to make a difference. Now, she may be whistling past the graveyard, but I think it’s likely that the libs have over played their hand on both the war on women card and the race card in this one.
I think a lot of “white guilt” liberals are no longer fooled by the race card too...but that’s another topic.
If they are losing faith in Obama it’s only because he’s failed to come up with the free sh*t fast enough.
After POTUS Obama spoke to an almost empty college baskerballl arena yesterday in Phildelphia (about 5,000 Obamabots in an 18,000 seat arena...it was embarassing, to say the least)....it is quite evident, many African-Americans are not buying the “Obama, Hope & Change routine” anymore!!!
Folks, American voters, “all”....destroy the entire “Obamabot”, Democrat Party, politically on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, and make POTUS Obama an Instant “LAME DUCK” POTUS!!!

If the GOPe has their way they will try to move the republican party more to the left to attract these voters.
They wont get them. Then they will move the party leftwards more. Still wont get them. Left again... nope... again. again. again. again...
I welcome ANYONE (sorry muslims.. not you) to join me in the fight against socialists / statists. But they must come to us making NO demands. We will NOT become the enemy to gain their loyalty.
Best that can be hoped for with the people that have voted for democrats their entire life is that they just dont vote any more (or work overtime to commit vote fraud any more) because the democrats cant deliver on their promises of free shit. Which is why its asinine for the GOP to shift left. We do more HARM to the left by stopping them from fulfilling their promises and ultimately disillusioning their low info voters.
Really... When its all about free stuff, and the guy you worked for or voted for to get you free stuff doesnt... you stop working for and voting for them.
