McConnell Concedes GOP Senate Will Not Mean Obamacare Repeal
NPR ^ | October 29, 2014

Election Day isn't until next week, but Senate Majority Leader-in-Waiting Mitch McConnell is already warning Republicans who would like to repeal Obamacare and roll back environmental regulations about two key numbers: 60 and 2.

"It would take 60 votes in the Senate. No one thinks we're going to have 60 Republicans. And it would take a presidential signature. No one thinks we're going to get that," McConnell said during a campaign-stop interview with Fox News.

"This is why nobody believes Mitch McConnell anymore," said Mary Vought, spokeswoman for the Senate Conservatives Fund, a group that has pushed Tea Party candidates in GOP primaries against establishment incumbents. "He says he wants to rip Obamacare out 'root and branch,' but then flips days before his election and says he plans to surrender."

Dan Holler, a spokesman for the political wing of the Heritage Foundation, Heritage Action, said Republicans have to explain to America what they're for. "That is not going to happen if they sit there and make excuses about Harry Reid or Barack Obama. They need to be proactive about putting out an agenda," he said.

McConnell said that with a full Obamacare repeal impossible, he would instead push to repeal the law's tax on medical devices — which a number of Democratic senators already support — and to narrow its mandate on which workers must be covered.

Then stop funding it.

No common sense. Just running for reelection and no leadership.

McConnell has *already* promised the Democrats to give them all the power that Harry Reid denied the Republicans.

AGAIN, DAMN HIM!

When the Democrats are in power, they strip the Republicans of power, and then when the Republicans are back in charge, they give the Democrats their power.

WHY? WHY? WHY? Is McConnell deranged?

He shouldn’t just be kicked out of the senate for this. He should be expelled from the Republican party.

The Tea Party gave control of the House to the Republicans in 2010 for the sole reason to stop Obola and his fellow travellers. The House can defund Obolacare and every other alphabet group in this federal gubbermint with or without consent from the Senate or the faggot in the White Hut.

If the capon Repukes in the House(Boner, etc) had nut one they would have defunded Obolacare, Epa, Atf, Dept. Edu, ad naseum. in 2010. If the DEMONCRATS didn’t like it, we wouldn’t fund any of the gubbermint until the rats caved.

But alas, The Republicans couldn’t make the case that water is wet and the Demoncrats are intentionally trying to destroy this country.

Well, since there won’t be 67 votes in the Senate or 292 votes in the House to override Obama’s veto of a repeal bill, it is correct, is it not, that a GOP Senate will not result in the repeal of Obamacare?

Didn’t Reid go with 51 votes?

Just stop funding Obamacare. Cut the budget. No more continuing resolutions.

Show some leadership or elect a new leader. Find someone who knows how to run the government and get positive conservative things done.

Let’s have a showdown with the incompetent Obama administration!

Explain how government should solve problems instead of hiding behind weak leaders.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Wouldn’t it have been great if the Republican Congress under Newt would have had a Republican President to sign welfare reform? And it was such a good day when President Bush, with a Republican House and Senate, passed that Social Security reform. Oh...wait. The fact is it is their responsibility to rally public support for legislation to force the hand of the President, and/or opposition party. Giving up before the fight begins is McConnell’s forte. I think I read a book once that surrendering before the fight begins is always the best way to lead.

We are not functioning with a budget. HOR and the White House have submitted budgets, but we are functioning on CRs.

Under governance with CRs, the Republican controlled HOR has the opportunity to put the Senate and White House plans/earmarks/whole department's funding in a vice, but unfortunately are too scared or just secretly like some the Statist policies to perpetuate the funding while only making significant cuts to one of the departments actually enumerated in the Constitution.

CRs is open season on anything and everything in theory.

Forcing Democrats to go on the record with a vote could be a powerful tool if someone has the guts and guile to use it.

The Republican leadership in both Houses supported passage of ObamaCare, so of course they are going to remove it. They are all New World Order socialist/fascist

They didn’t pass amnesty, they didn’t increase the budget crazily, and the Medicare prescription plan was, at least during GWB’s tenure, coming in UNDER budget and helped the bottom line.

They did increase the budget massively and they did everything they could to stab conservatives in the back and pass Amnesty, and MedicareD was a massive expansion of Medicare.

The point being is that they were trying to do the same things that the traitorous GOP-E is trying to do today.

With all due respect, “...Mitch can’t get any Dem votes...” unless and until he has something to TRADE for those votes.

A Senate Majority Leader has a few “goodies” to trade.

A Senate Minority has less to offer.

Strangely, some people seem to “think” that waiting to attack until the ammunition has arrived and been loaded is “surrender”.

This is precisely why the GOP will not win the Senate. They will lose House and Governor seats.

THERE IS NO, ABSOLUTELY NONE, LEADERSHIP OR PRINCIPLES OR AGENDA ITEMS COMING FROM THE GOP.
