Lawyer for Fort Kent nurse says she won’t abide by quarantine

Attorneys for a nurse released from isolation in New Jersey after returning to the U.S. from West Africa say she will not comply with Maine health officials’ requirements that she remain under quarantine at home for 21 days.

Kaci Hickox, who treated Ebola patients in Sierra Leone and shows no symptoms of the virus, agreed to refrain from going out in public for two days only, said Steven Hyman of the New York law firm McLaughlin & Stern. She traveled to Maine on Monday after her release from a New Jersey hospital, where she was isolated against her will.

“She doesn’t want to agree to continue to be confined to a residence beyond the two days,” Hyman said.

I found a ridiculous article she did in Vegas....about poor people and traffic deaths....and that they get killed by cars disproportionately...and she can’t figure out why and so she’ll have to do more research. One of the stupidest “professional” CDC articles I’ve ever read.

I don’t think that this nurse decided to do this all by herself. Someone has been coaching her.

Well... by her 'refusal' , it will be an issue that Obama will solve with an EO stating that any whites or tea party members or republicans in general can be quarantined by force.

Alrighty then Nurse Ratchet. If you won’t abide by the quarantine perhaps a three-week European plan stay in Guantanamo’s finest accommodation...with a daily cup of STFU?

If she doesn't do it voluntarily, Maine might get a court order to enforce the 21-day quarantine. Her lawyer will fight it, if so.

She may end up being quarantined de facto; people won't want to get near her, then there will be some photo op with her hugging someone.

There is something strange about her eyebrows. It looks like she doesn’t have any.

How exactly does a nurse find and hire constitutional law experts on that short of notice?

The whole thing seems way above her pay grade.

It is clear the hero of benghazi wants to have a free reign of those who have been exposed, except the military of course.

If the gov won’t do it, the county health officials should. Safety is the top priority.

okay - she doesn’t want to do something.

I have no problem with that as long as she is willing to pay for any consequences for her action. If Ebola infection can be traced back to her then she needs to pay for at least 50% of the medical costs.

That agreement needs to be up front and drawn up by professional lawyers specializing in medical cases.

The nurse in question could post a surety bond to cover any costs incurred by a third party treating Ebola patients traced back to her.

Her options are to get the surety bond or under go quarantine. There is no third option.

Reading the interviews she gave to several news outfits, she was put up to this. The stories were written for her, all scripted to evoke compassion and sympathy for her.

No way she could have given such complete stories totally off the cuff.

She is a total political hack. Probably done at the instruction of the new obola czar.

Good grief! I would ask for a link, but then again. I’m sure you’ve given an accurate synopsis. I cannot handle reading meaningless drivel by “professionals”.

She’s not the prettiest I’ve seen, but she is moderately good looking. However, I can see why she’s not married. What kind of man would want to spend the rest of his life with a self-centered woman who is so shockingly selfish and unpleasant?

“she knows better than anyone”

yes - she said she knows more than most people in the US in her CNN interview with Crowley

I haven't finished the article; it's long. The town's people say they aren't against her but the media is descending on the small, peaceful town like vultures so she has had to seek shelter elsewhere.

She has a boyfriend who is a nursing student; naturally he is on her side.

They are hoping she will do a voluntary quarantine but the Maine CDC as of now is determined to get a court order.

This is not fun and games. If Dr. Spencer had behaved like this, the public would be more upset than they already were. That photographer doesn't even know how he caught it. So unless she is lying about going there, how can she be so arrogant she didn't contact it?

One of Maine's health people's arguments is she was tested too early. It takes awhile for antibodies to build up if that's what the tests look for.
