Independent or third-party politicians often roil American elections, and the current battle for Senate control could be determined by any of several unconventional candidates, including a pizza-delivering Libertarian in North Carolina.

GREG ORMAN: This independent received a dramatic boost in the Kansas Senate race when the Democrat suddenly dropped out...

SEAN HAUGH: A folksy, mild-mannered Libertarian who delivers pizza around Durham could hold the key to North Carolina on November 4.

He is polling at six percent in a race where Democratic Senator Kay Hagan leads Republican Thom Tillis by half that margin.

The Dems discovered that the key to their victory is to have some spoiler third party candidates run to syphon enough votes away from the Republicans to allow the Dems to win.

And it seems to work almost every time, because unfortunately many "conservatives" are so gullible and don't see the forest for the trees and realize that the only result of voting for third party candidate is to help the Dems win...

A folksy, mild-mannered Libertarian who delivers pizza??

A lowly peasant...He'd never fit in to the club...They should have him investigated by the cops and IRS and raid his home....Even if they don't find anything, it will discredit the hell out of him. Get the media to past his mug shot all over...

You would think that the Demwits would be content with their successful voter fraud schemes.

Democrats know this works. Ross Perot got 19% of the vote and gave us the curse of the Clintons, which we will be suffering in 2016 once again.

I agree, we never would’ve had that evil nero clinton or whats about to follow him,

but look who the GOP put in place, its always some NWO drone like a mccain, dole or bush spawn etc.,

there really is no choice except in the house and senate and that is falling fast into the same mold,

I blame Bush more than Perot for Clinton.

Yep, Plan Perot, it worked like a charm. Split the vote and get the dem in!

Perot was thrilled.

Bush gave Perot the opening he needed.

That's OK; the Republican Party has forgotten to have a message, or stand for something, so they're pretty much irrelevant now.

Did you forget something? — The Democrat and Republican Parties came together after Perot to enact legislation making it harder for any 3rd Party person to have a chance at winning. That alone should tell you something.

I blame the “smart kids” in the research triangle for the popularity of libertarians in NC.

txrefugee:" Ross Perot got 19% of the vote and gave us the curse of the Clintons, which we will be suffering in 2016 once again."

Ross Perot gave voters a choice, a voice different than the lamestream parties foisted on the electorate .
Right now the Demorats and Repubbies run party establishment types that nobody wants
and you end up voting for the lesser of evils chosen by the establishment elites and the media.
Third party candidates are generally ignored by the media , except where the media wants to help control the vote and who gets elected.
So , if you are displeased with the selection of candidates , generally you will see the lamestream media offering voice to the third party candidate
in especially close elections .

Some ill-qualified losertarians who support abortion and homo “marriage” are certainly not the cure for our ills. Talk about a wasted vote.

No, it’s because the “take your party or go home” or “hate evangelical Christian” or “defeatist crowd-some of what we have here on FR, unfortunately” would rather vote 3rd party that is “PURE” than to see that their votes just contribute to letting commies into power!

I suspect that is the idea ... to punish Republicans for their apostasies.

point taken. there are those at FR that would rather destroy insufficiently pure (by their lights) conservatives than defeat liberals.

I don’t know how numerous they are, but they do make a lot of noise.

GOP-E supporters jumping in to blame conservatives when their moderate to liberal GOP-E candidates take policy positions that makes it impossible for people of principle to vote for them.

Third party, spoiler candidates, split ticket, mean Democrat victory about 95% of the time that they appear on the ballot.

Yes, John Anderson tried & failed to derail Reagan in 1980. But Ross Perot succeeded in 1992 against GHW Bush.
