Sarah Palin Reportedly Donates Only 5.5% of PAC Money to Actual Candidates
Mediaite ^ | October 20th, 2014 | Tina Nguyen

Sarah Palin‘s PAC is extremely stingy when it comes to donating money to her fellow Republicans: a report from Open Secrets reveals that since the 2014 two-year election cycle began, her PAC has raised a total of $2.7 million dollars, but only donated $150,000 of that money to actual candidates, a donation rate of 5.5%.

This year was even worse: according to SarahPAC’s third quarter filings this year, they had $1.4 million cash in hand, but only donated $45,000 to nine Congressional candidates — about 3% — between July 1st and September 30th. What did they spend the rest on?

Many of the same consultants she has used all along — for speechwriting, fundraising, logistics and research. There’s even someone paid to consult on “coalitions.” Travel, presumably for Palin, is part of the equation; a PAC like this is useful for keeping a high profile nationally without having to pay those pesky airline and hotel tabs out of personal funds. And the PAC sent $10,885 to HarperCollins — publisher of all three of Palin’s books — for “books for donor fulfillment.” That wasn’t the only book purchase by the committee: A lump sum of $13,000 was listed as being spent for “lodging, SUV rental, books for donors.”

According to OpenSecrets, Palin’s PAC is notoriously “parsimonious,” noting that “of the 417 leadership PACs that made at least one contribution in that cycle, SarahPAC was one of only 19 to give less than 10 percent of its total expenditures to candidates, other PACs or party committees.”

They also note that many of the candidates she’s donated to in this quarter are either extremely long shots or no longer in the running. For instance, she donated $5,000 to Joe Miller, a Tea Party candidate who attempted to run for the US Senate seat held by Democrat Mark Begich. “Miller lost to Dan Sullivan in the GOP primary, but Palin has not seen fit to donate to the Republican nominee, who is locked in nearly a dead heat with Begich,” Open Secrets observed, and added that Palin herself has only donated $628 to a federal candidate in her entire life.

SarahPAC has yet to publicly comment on the story.

That’s the way to go. Directly support organizations and candidates. No middlemen or RNC.

“Open secrets uses public records and they are very reliable. They are probably right donate directly to the candidate of your choice and avoid a middle man.”

The figures are taken directly from required campaign finance documents.

I am currently very heavily solicited by Tea Party Express and various related individual campaign funds. But it is really the Sal Russo operation in Sacramento.

The entity takes a percent commission on funds raised, another percent commission on ads placed, plus salaries to key employees.

So get yourself a PAC, and make some money too.

Sarah should make a big fuxxxxxing deal out of Billy Jefferson Clinton’s (BJ) behavior in White House.

While I doubt Sarah will ever run for anything again, if she did that would be a huge mistake. First of all, most Americans were sick of it or didn't care almost 20 years ago, and nobody wants to rehash that now. Second they view Hillary as the victim of Bill's infidelity, so it would seem like attacking the victim. And Bill Clinton is still pretty popular with many if not most Americans, sad to say.

It’s one democrat hatchet-job after another against Sarah Palin. The democrats still are terrified of her....for good reason: she knows what they are and how to defeat them. (Hint: Keep talking about democrat frauds and corruption.)

$150K in donations IS a pretty paltry showing of the $2.7M raised. It would be interesting to see how much was spent on her travel to rallies, etc. for those candidates. That is worth as much to a candidate as an actual cash donation. The PAC needs to explain that.

I did some back of the envelope calculations. Assuming she did an event once a week and spent $10K for travel, lodging and speech-writing per event for herself and one or two aides, we are looking at $520K. I'd like to see an accounting for the rest.

Also they could be digging up dirt so they can make room for future Fort Marcy Park victims too. Just never know with these Clintons.

All PACs have to file quarterly and other special reports with the FEC. At least in general terms, you can get info on where the spent $ went, and see how much is held in reserve.

You cant go a week without seeing “Nixon” on one of the movie channels. Same with Documentries about Anne Richards or Gerry Ferrio. And one of the networks has a show about a woman Sec of state. Like Liberal porn.

I believe her PAC has $1.5 million cash on hand. Buried in the story.

3% is about what you would earn. If you want to keep you fund going, you donate less than your earnings.

There’s not much around now they can blame on Bush. So it’s blame Palin time I guess. She may be morphing into the new Goldstein for the left.

There are other ways to utilize those funds which are very above board too. The PAC funds were developed to help candidates. They weren’t developed to hand over to the candidates.

I am not a Palin supporter or a fan of PACs. But I have to ask where the complaints were when McCain was supporting his staff and political operations with donations from Soros when everyone thought his campaign was broke. More hypocrisy from the political establishment.

I’m kind of neutral on Palin, but this PAC attack is just over-the-top ignorance or calumny.

Here’s from an attempted hit piece a year ago:

http://www.publicintegrity.org/2013/07/31/13088/sarah-palin-pac-takes-fundraising-nosedive

...SarahPAC spent about $500,000 during the first half of 2013 and had more than $1.1 million cash on hand through June 30, FEC filings indicate.

Palin’s PAC spent the vast majority of that money on consultants, travel, speechwriting and other logistical fees...
