Pope's fine words on homosexuality are useless while the Catholic church still calls it a sin
The Guardian ^ | October 23, 2014 | David Marr

I am still bound for hell. Nothing the bishops discussed in Rome over the past few weeks will save me and my kind from damnation. They considered some soft rhetoric but never questioned that sex between men must remain a grave sin.

Commentators around the world, straight and gay, have shied away from this. So delighted were they by talk of the church “welcoming” gay people and recognising their “gifts and qualities” that they spoke of a sea change in Rome.

Those optimistic voices are falling silent now as they realise how wrong they were. The issue is sin and the sin remains. And bishops of the far right and Africa combined to strip any fine words about “men and women of homosexual tendencies” from the final report of the synod. The most the meeting in Rome offered them in the end was “respect and sensitivity”.

I for one am sick and tired of this dishonest game.

Pope Francis makes pronouncements that are murky and unclear. They can be interpreted in many ways.

The MSM then proclaims that Pope Francis is courageous and forward thinking and is welcoming homosexuals. The Vatican allows and possibly encourages this reporting. They refuse to disagree in any way.

Bishops and Cardinals are forced do defend church teaching and are then labelled backward and conservative.

Again the Vatican does not defend them.

The leading proponent of encouraging homosexualithy within the Catholic church says that African and Asian Bishops should not be listened to. He then lies and denies he said it. The audiotape is released proving he said precisely that. No action is taken.

A good and holy man, Cardinal Burke, is demoted and falsely called a critic of Pope Francis.

All of this drama and deceit occurred at an event called the Synod on the Family. Throughout this event there was no support or encouragement offered to the millions of faithful Catholic families.

Now the MSM is angry because homosexual activity is still sinful despite the words of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis needs to stand up and deliver clear, concise and unambiguous pronouncements on the need to support Catholic families and the need to condemn the sinfulness of homosexuality.

Yep, he’s going to hell as he now stands. He has always been welcome to come to mass as a man of good will and see what the Church offers him, eternal joy and a path to join his current suffering to that of Jesus’ on the Cross in this life...and reconciliation of all past sin if he accepts.

Or hell, if he doesn’t want to try.

We could word it nicer, we could hug him as he enters the door. We could love him as a fellow sinning child of God. But it is his choice, his actions, as mine for me, that will free him of all sin or damn himself....as the bible says. It’s not up to a pope or any priest to reverse Jesus in Jesus’ Church.

It is interesting that people want the rules of their religion changed to suit them. Religion is about conforming and obeying God’s law, not altering the law to suit you.

I know some reform Jews who have a lesbian rabbi leading their congregation. Talk about throwing out the rule book.

Of course the church welcomes you if your a sinner:

Luke 5:32 For I calleth not the righteous but the sinners to repentance.

Luke 15:7 ...more joy in heaven if one sinner repenteth...

Donations down? I doubt 2% of the population whom probably don't go to Church anyway will change things much. Same for their ‘Straight” enablers.

" . . . never questioned that sex between men must remain a grave sin."

There is no such thing as "sex" between men and men; it is an oxymoron.

Who cares what Frank says or doesn't say? Almighty God speaks in His Word and is ABSOLUTELY CLEAR:

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." - 1 Corinthians 6:9,10

Funny how he writes a clear article but cannot take the time to read the Bible and what it teaches about sin...his sin he does not want to free himself of....what happens with homosexuals over and over in the Bible.

As you said, to heck with any polls as if folks are too lazy to follow the teachings in the Bible, they’ll vote worldly comfy each time.

And...guess what I learned this past weekend, we SHOULD be judging with righteousness and will be judged for the sins we do not ask to be forgiven of before God.

Please with the title.

So ignorant

Th Catholic Church is not a democratic institution

The theologians look at God’s Word and tell the faithful what they would do to be happy healthy and holy ( aiming for heaven) according to the Word

They don’t tell God what rules to make up and to get with it

That’s pride.

And anyone that wants to follow can and anyone that doesn’t want to follow doesn’t have to

To say something isn’t a sin that is a sin is just making up another church. And God gives us free will to do that too

When people don’t like the church they are free to leave

That’s all

I am still bound for hell.

One possible way to avoid this outcome would be to stop having sex with men.
