The way to get rid of that 50% who won’t even try to go to work or open a cottage business that only costs the printing of business cards is to give charity back to the churches, where-according to my parents, and all I’ve read-it worked until LBJ f***ed it up.

You are on the mark on that. It is an ignored and overlooked truth. Note Jefferson's comment on how Welfare worked in Virginia in 1782: Jefferson On Welfare.

If we can get enough people who are willing to take
America back to being a place to make your own success, and away from being the new USSR with more corruption, we could just sign on that dotted line...

Vagabonds, without visible property or vocation, are placed in workhouses, where they are well clothed, fed, lodged and made to labour.

I was so happy when congress pushed through welfare-to-work-not in small part because I was a workers comp case manager at the time, and it made my job so much easier-clients who know they must return to work after a work related injury are not prone to file false claims for SSDI benefits, etc. That makes for happy clients, insurance companies and case managers.

I’m so glad I decided to take a more rewarding job soon after 2000-I’d have gone stark raving mad by now...

So your employer could effectively take away your vote by firing you before the election?

No.

Government Employees (State, Federal, Municipal, County, etc.) should not be allowed to vote. Employees of direct government contractors should not be allowed to vote either.

Persons receiving welfare payments(EBT cards, AFDC etc.) should not be allowed to vote.

Persons serving time in jail or on parole should not be allowed to vote.

Active members of the armed forces should be allowed to vote (but not civilian police).

Felons should be allowed to vote once they have completed their sentences and paroles

An “article” from the “liberal examiner,” and examiner.com. What an unbiased source. Obviously, Ms. Guilfoyle was making a joke, and like all libs, this so-called writer took her at her word.

I’d go a lot farther in limiting the franchise. How about:

- A basic intelligence/current events test. If you’re like the morons who appeared in Jay Leno’s “Jaywalking” segment, or the stooges interviewed by Jesse Waters on FNC—and you can’t identify key concepts/personalities in U.S. history, you don’t vote.

- No vote for anyone who is not a “net payers” of income tax. Only folks who pay throughout the year—and still have to write a check on April 15th—get a vote. After all, they’re paying the bills, not the slacker who’s on every benefit program imaginable and gets a tax refund to boot.

- Extra votes for anyone who is a net payer of income tax, up to a specified limit. Again, we ought to reward the people who are actually paying for everyone else.

- No registration within 90 days of an election. If you’re serious about your duty as a citizen, you’ll get off the couch and get to the courthouse/DMV in plenty of time to register.

We have far too many people who should never go near a voting booth. And virtually all of them are registered Dims or “independents.”

I was in the process of writing the same thing. Oh, and televised floggings and hangings vs. warehousing in criminal academies for felons. The 19th and 20th centuries’ experiment with reform through incarceration has failed miserably.

Once again, the left is trying to distract the idiots amongst us and create an issue where none exists, And unfortunately, even Freepers are being sucked in. Whatever happened to finding out the facts before jumping in with the criticism?

WATCH, READ and THEN... criticize if you feel it's warranted

Personally, as a regular viewer, I knew not to trust what KG is accused of by the LEFT.

And yes, she is a looker, but I like Andrea Tantaros more. Sort of a Mary Ann or Ginger deal...

There is no question but that the Government run Welfare system has been a major corrupting factor, in breaking down the self-respect of a large segment of the public. The reforms to which you refer were a step in the right direction; too bad that so many in Government lacked your understanding of the social dynamics involved.

Most 18 year olds are too politically stupid to vote. Actually most undergrad students, unless they have prior work experience, are too stupid to vote

As I understand it, the founders believed only citizen property owners should be allowed to vote. I would have no problem with that today. I also would have no problem with insisting that the citizenship test be passed in order for citizens to vote. If you don’t know the history of the foundation of the country, you probably should not be determining its future.

The elites in this country see that unless they dilute American culture with world culture, they will never be able to completely rid the world of American exceptionalism. The dems will fast track this country to communism and fascism by bringing in tens of millions of people with world culture backgrounds (the gimme, gimmies) who tolerate communism and fascism.

Fine with me. After all you’ve done for our country, I’ll be happy to let you all be the ones to choose between all those Democrat losers and GOP-e losers.

But seriously: ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

I prefer a different formulation. Only those with a stake in society should be given the franchise. When the nation was founded, that meant restriction to property holders of a certain net value. In modern terms, it should be formulated on the basis of how much tax you pay — only those who fund the government should be allowed to have a say in how it’s run and what their tax money is spent on. All others live here under our sufferance.

No, it is not what I am saying. I am saying that the contributors who pay for national government in all of its myriad forms should decide how government money is spent. No more and no less than that.
