‘Pudding Man’ who left Israel for Germany reveals his identity
Washington Post ^ | October 17 , 2013 | Anthony Faiola

Posted on 10/21/2014 5:39:09 AM PDT by SJackson

BERLIN — Pudding Man is unmasked! He is none other than 25-year-old mobile app designer Naor Narkis.

And if you don’t know who pudding man is, you clearly don’t live in Israel or Germany.

Narkis – whose revealed his name for the first time to The Washington Post – sparked an uproar over the past three weeks after taking to the Internet to share his decision to leave behind the high cost of Tel Aviv and follow a host of young Israelis emigrating to cheap and shabby-chic Berlin. Despite the shadow of the Holocaust here, he encouraged more of his countrymen to do the same — anonymously mounting a Facebook page on Sept. 29 titled Olim Le Berlin. Even the name itself — playing on a Hebrew word commonly used to encourage immigration to Israel — stirred passions.

But his page really went viral – and became part of the national debate – after he posted a shopping receipt, including a local version of a beloved Israeli chocolate dessert known as Milky. He bragged of buying a far more ample portion than the typical serving size in Israel for roughly one-third the price. Soon, talk began of a “Milky Revolution” – or an outflow of young Israelis who could find economic solace in the symbolically important, and undeniably cheap, former capital of Nazi Germany.

This was predicted a while back.

Israel is, for lack of a better term, a colony in a hostile land. It can only exist as long as its people are willing to fight and die for it.

With the Ultra Orthodox simply acting as leaches (refusing to work or defend the state) the non Jewish native population being pulled into conflict (be they Christian or Muslim), it is understandable that some of the more secular people will go to places where they don’t have to worry about rocket strikes or bombs.

The big question is how large the out migration will get. I know of quite a few former Israeli’s who have moved to the US. Many who have family here, and seem to bounce between the two countries. But I do wonder if there are more who are simply not going back.

Leaving socialist Israel for socialist Germany, great plan.

Berlin, shabby chic is an apt description. But it is still hard to find a good coffee shop.

The dude is nuts. Berlin is still occupied by the ghosts of Nazi devils.

A healthy dose of caution is well when prognosticating here. The current land is far smaller than its predecessor’s biblically documented extents. When the divine mandate appears, this is going to change. Technically he didn’t do anything wrong yet, although a self indulgent mind is not a good sign. I could see a comparison about the cost of a house, but pudding?

We witness brief moments in God’s history with mankind.
His people are chosen forever. Their victories and their tragedies all demonstrate His divinity.
Those who oppose the Jew are enemies of God. This will always be the truth. He has said so and His word is absolute.

Any Jew who would willingly live in Europe is crazy.

I'm not quite sure how you got from Scooby Doo to the Israelites being the Chosen People, but okay.

"I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for those meddling Jews!"

Nice to hear from you, Laz. I was not paying attention to Scooby Doo. Simply a statement of understanding about the nature of Judaism.

The joke in Israel has long been “the only place a Jewish guy can’t get ahead (or, alternatively ‘a fair shake’) is Israel.

Israel is expensive.

Per capita defense spending is very high.

More over, many, many Israelis are poor immigrants from Arab countries or Russia who arrived with literally nothing. Absorbing them has been hard.

Trade is difficult, as Israel is effectively an island. Goods do not come “overland” in trains due to out neighbors being insane. They are either made in Israel or come by boat or plane.

Finally, there is a hold over socialist mentality in the government, which does not help. This is getting better, but it’s still bad.

In your last paragraph, the words ‘hold’ and ‘over’ should be all one word; holdover. As you wrote it, one has to be confused by the thought of someone having a HOLD over someone else, and discover that’s wrong, and go back and re-read it, and put the two words together as they need to be for the narrative to make sense.

Israel also has a love-hate relationship with the “Jesus Jews” who act as their best travel agents.

A good question that doesn’t really answer anything is: are the Jews going to Berlin more Ashkenazi (eastern Jews), or Sephardi (western Jews). Before WWII, the Jews in Germany were almost mostly Ashkenazi.

I mention this because Ashkenazi Jews would have many cultural remnants with Germany, eastern Europe and Russia, that the Sephardi would not.

The promise isn’t magic. Wrongdoers whether Jew, Christian, or atheist can and should be confronted in the proper authority. However, mob actions will not be blessed.

It’s Christians (Jewish and gentile) who are a large part of the picture of how modern Israel got established. Dispensational theology (which is not a total novelty — it frequently echoes the views of church fathers) helped a lot with that. And so the love/hate tension between Jewish Zionism and Christianity continues. From the Jewish point of view, they can’t understand why Christians would care and keep coming up with hypotheses of selfish interest. From the Christian point of view? Same Savior and they are looking forward to one joint eternal hallelujah. A lot more Christians help Jews than Jews contribute to churches.
