President Obama made a monumental mistake in appointing a political hack, Ron Klain, as the Ebola czar. He must undo his error now and give the job to someone of stature and genuine ability.
In alphabetical order, here are three individuals the President should consider immediately for this crucial post:
Michael Bloomberg. Hes not a physician, but from his extensive work with (and donations to) the medical school and hospital at Johns Hopkins University and other medical institutions, he has gained an enormous amount of knowledge.
Ben Carson. A gifted neurosurgeon and former director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Carson has the necessary background in medicine to be able to evaluate what needs to be done.
Bill Frist. A renowned heart and lung transplant surgeon who decided to enter politics, Frist won two terms in the U.S. Senate from Tennessee.
Two areas the new czar would have to tend to right away:
The FDA. Incredibly the FDA has let it be known that it wants to stick to its expensive, time-consuming ways of testing new drugs.
Liability. President Obama hates to cross trial lawyers, who are major donors to him and his party. But the President must ask Congress to grant pharmaceutical companies immunity from lawsuits when it comes to manufacturing vaccines.

Bloomberg would first scour the entire city of an Ebola patient to ensure it was a gun-free zone.
Then he’d worry about thousands of people bleeding to death before his eyes.
How about Ron Klain’s old boss? Janet Reno.
Ron Klain is a perfect choice . . . for 0bama’s purposes.
Carson has already made it clear that he would not accept such an appointment.
He knows that Obama would merely shift whatever blame arose from the situation to Carson. However, if it succeeded, Obama would take the credit.
It is a no-win situation with Obola in office.
Well...yeah. The "Ebola Czar's" job is not to stop Ebola, but to spin Ebola headlines to help Obama's larger purposes.
They have no interest in stopping the spread of Ebola until they have extracted the theoretical Maximum Alinsky Value from its arrival.
I think there’s a search for unauthorized sodas (any) between steps 1 and 3. That, of course, would be a continuation of CDC policies and spending.
The person you hire is usually based on how you view the job they will be doing. If the job was viewed to be all about public health, then a doctor with experience in immunology would have been hired. If the job was viewed as a political problem, then you would hire a political “fixer”. It’s that simple.
Obama doesn’t want Ebola contained in America, he just doesn’t want to take blame for the deaths. So Klain has been installed as a scapegoat Obama knows will take orders from him. Klain has never been anything more than a partisan flunky.
Exactly.
If 0bola REALLY wanted to select a “non-partisan” administrative individual irrespective of medical qualifications why not Mitt Romney? With his prior Executive experience (like the Olympics), this would truly have been a magnanimous move, worthy of ‘The One’.
It wouldn’t be too different than selecting Bloomberg, and would take Romney out of the GOP mix that is if they really felt he was a threat in 2016
Bill Frist would be perfect. His pro-life stand for Terri
Schiavo is a plus. In addition, his experience with Hospital Corporation of America reveals that he knows what accountability is all about.
How about stuffing the whole idea of a “Ebola czar” altogether? What do they add to the equation?
I guess she would be OK, as long as she doesn't have a flame thrower.
:-)
>>He must undo his error now and give the job to someone of stature and genuine ability.<<
.
Stature and genuine ability?
Why change the existing standard that he has established for his administration?
No he didn't.
The entire job of the "Ebola czar" is to spin the press coverage so that Obama doesn't get blamed. Of course he is going to name a political hack.
If Obama appointed "someone of stature and genuine ability" his czar might put preventing a national pandemic over protecting Obama's butt. That would be totally unacceptable.
Everything Obama does is a disastrous mistake.
