The People Cry out for a Czar but Obama Gives Them a Commissar.
vanity ^ | October 19, 2014 | Nathan Bedford

The people sense that the federal Leviathan is so ponderous that it cannot cope with a potentially existential health threat. They commonly think that the problem is that the government is so big and multi-tentacled that it cannot communicate, it cannot coordinate, it cannot cope.

They are right about the size being a problem but size is not the root problem, it is a symptom. The gross federal Leviathan on is a symptom of an ideology that is all wrong. So long as that ideology could be described as "liberalism" the miraculous tool powers of our free enterprise system and our constitutional federal system could cope with the creeping intrusions of government. For many years after the war we were as a nation profitable enough to squander much of our profits. But the line has been crossed, the government is now thoroughly out of control and as a consequence the country is spinning out of control and the people recognize it.

So the people ask for a Czar to take charge, organize and bring coherence to the government's actions because Ebola threatens their lives and it is obvious that the government is stepping all over itself and committing life-threatening mistake after life-threatening mistake. Our media tells us that the right man can pull it all together and maybe that is true for short time for a particular problem such as a regional disaster like a hurricane or even a potential pestilence. But Obama has not given us a man of required caliber, instead he is given us a hack, not a field general but a commissar designed to spy on and control real generals in the field.

Joe Stalin sent his commissars out to terrorize Soviet soldiers fighting the Nazis on the Eastern front so that the war was fought utterly ruthlessly for the salvation of Bolshevism, no matter the human cost. It was the commissars who forced the suicide attacks, who ran punishment battalions over mine fields, who set up machine guns to murder retreating Soviet soldiers. The commissars were there to enforce communist ideology and to make sure that the Kremlin's orders concerning how the war would be fought were obeyed without the slightest deviation. They were constantly on guard for ideological deviancy and terrorized the Soviet army into top down obedience in thought as well as deed.

Ron Klain, the presidents appointee, is grotesquely unqualified for his position because he is possessed of no public health experience or expertise whatsoever. Rather he has been styled by the Obama media as a "strategist." One of his strategies was the Gore campaign to overturn George Bush's election victory. His entire career has been to serve as a loyal factotum to Democrat power brokers. Like Obama, he has never managed, successfully or otherwise, any serious undertaking except elections. We need a man of expertise, experience, and integrity and Ron Klain is singularly lacking in all of these character traits.

Like Stalin, Obama sacrifices competence for ideological purity. Obama places American lives at risk in the service of his Marxist ideology.

Didn’t read the OP (don’t have to because I fully agree with the premise), but I nominate you for creator of all FR titles from this point forward.

On the other side of Bush v. Gore was a very young Ted Cruz. Remind me who won that one.

Klain’s job is to keep obama from embarrassment and to spin this mess to point blame to others. He is nothing more than a fat faced asskissing catchfart for obama hoping to catch a better ride after this gig is over.

Actually, Obama merely gives them - and us - the shaft.

“Catchfart.” I’m misappropriating that one. May combine it with “churl,” “lack-wit,” “sycophant,” and who knows what else.

I’ll tell where this goes back to. Earlier this week...there was a meeting at the White House, and the CDC experts who showed up....did a dismal and really screwed up conference meeting with President Obama. Some said one thing, some said something else. This two-hour meeting turned into a literal mess, based on news commentary. The President got all huffy and discouraged because not only is the national agenda screwed up....but this meeting-and-talking stuff is screwed up.

So he hired a guy to run the meetings....pure and simple. That’s it. That guy will hustle all the players other than the President to some meeting points, practice a dry-run prior to the President meeting, and the results will be one simple message at the meeting, which the President will be all happy and smiles about. End of story.

Remember, the czar has no authority over the CDC, any national or health-related agency, or the US military mission in Africa. No authority. If he’d been approved by the Senate, and a cabinet officer, it’d be different....but he has zero authority over anyone, that’s the gimmick positive of Czars. They merely occupy office space and write notes....that’s it.

This Czar? I doubt if any network will invite him to talk other than NBC. He’s worthless and what he says....is worthless. But, as a meeting coordinator....he’s five-star because the White House meetings will function correctly now. That’s the value gained.

Ron Klaine is to Ebola what Obama is to the presidency.... Completely unqualified for the job.

In a way I think it is the unspecified, amorphous nature of the position which vests power. Press reports say that Klain will report directly to the president which carries always the ominous likelihood that the man with the president's ear acts as his spokesman, especially behind closed doors where it counts.

Consider the career of Harry Hopkins under Franklin Roosevelt, the immense scope of his power and its generally unspecified nature. Roosevelt liked it that way and I suspect Obama does as well so that he can play Klain off against Susan Rice (to whom he is also to report) and other apparatchiks and send messages through one or the other to various federal agencies and players for which Obama is not personally accountable.

I think it will depend on the force of personalities and who can win the infighting. One thing is very clear, Klain is not weak in the ego department and one might expect to see blood on the carpet in the Oval Office as well as in our hospital rooms.

Proofread! These sentences make no sense as written..."Leviathan on is?"..."the miraculous tool powers?" The writing is so poor one cannot discern the intent.

Here is the real reason Obama will not agree to a travel ban.

A travel ban will simply illuminate the fact that an open, chaotic southern border is a breading area for the viruses that have invaded the country.

A travel ban will be followed by LOUD AND UNDENIABLE calls to close the southern border.

“They are right about the size being a problem but size is not the root problem, it is a symptom.”

The problem is government only employs the unemployable.
The vast majority of government employees are totally
incompetent and unqualified for what they do. The only
exception being the military and that’s at the lower ranks.

. . . send messages through one or the other to various federal agencies and players for which Obama is not personally accountable.

That is Klain's precise purpose. It reflects a fundamental corruption of the executive branch.

The framers argued long and hard over the structure of this new office. They considered multiple execs, privy councils and rejected them all in favor of one man, a Unitary Executive. One man was to be responsible for the executive branch.

By this, we avoided the possibility of a president who took on the prerogatives of a king. English kings could not be held responsible for crown mistakes, but their ministers could and often paid for them with their lives.

Unlike kings, the American President was not to be unimpeachable. Unlike kings, the President alone was to be responsible for the executive branch.

So where are we now? Nothing is allowed to be Obama's fault. Not only is our president unimpeachable and not held responsible for anything, even his ministers (Lois Lerner, Eric Holder, etc.) are untouchable as well!!!

This is constitutional corruption of the highest order that has no precedent in American or English history. It is precursor to an American mindset that will soon openly accept a police state.

Right you are.

Government operates on an entirely different incentive system than the profit motive which guides hiring and firing in the private sector. The people who actually run government agencies are not there to make a profit, they are not even really there to solve the problem, they are placed there to appear to be solving the problem. They think they are there to advance their careers and to do that they grow their empires. The unions who represent them are certainly not interested in solving the peoples' problems, they are indifferent to them, and seek only to appear to be advancing their rank-and-file's interests which is too often an entirely different matter from actually advancing those interests.

However, virtually all those named have a real and distinct personal interest in avoiding the privatization of their functions which would increase efficiency, decrease costs, and actually tend to solve the problems which justify their existence.
