Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu has edged slightly ahead of Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy in Louisiana’s nail biter of a Senate race, but Cassidy holds a wide advantage if the race goes to a runoff.

Landrieu now picks up 41% of the vote to Cassidy’s 38% in the latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Louisiana Voters. Another Republican, Tea Party favorite Rob Maness, earns 14% support, while two percent (2%) prefer one of the other candidates in the race.

I think that Mary Landrieu’s luck has run out. I hope her Mom has her old room ready for her to move back into.

Landrieu is done for, but the second Republican candidate will give her a few more weeks of life to try and save herself.

I’d support Maness, but if he can’t edge up into the mid 20s asap, he really needs to step aside and endorse Cassidy. I’d rather put this to bed in November.

She will do much better than that in the runoff.

Don't ignore the impact of the unhappy Maness voters, the "Teach the GOPe a Lesson Crowd". They should add to the Republicn vote but many of them will just sit this one out. Plus the fraud will probably break records. She will not lose by worse than 53 to 47 and could still win.

No, the Maness voters will not sit it out, they want her gone.

A few points:

I was a Louisiana voter for many years. There are many people buried in Louisiana and they are buried above ground. They still vote.

Mary cannot avoid a runoff.

In the runoff, she is toast, she cannot overcome the vote of the real live voters who are tired of the Edwin Edwards crime machine.

I know Mary Landrieu. She’s a great choice for prom queen or Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. For everything else, she’s just a part of the Louisiana crime syndicate.

At some point the Tea Party candidate needs to see that it makes sense to make sure Landreau is defeated not that they make a statement...18% ain’t a win in anybody’s book.

Louisiana has what’s called a Jungle Primary.

An excellent description of that, is found here....

It could be why Sarah Palin has endorsed and campaigned for Maness.

See post #15, with a link explaining Lousiana’s jungle primary...and why it doesn’t matter if Maness (Tea Party) is in the mix.

I know La. politics too, and if this race decides the control of the senate, I expect 200% voter turnout in NOLA.

The NOLA machine has not been the same since Katrina. They all live in Houston now. I think that this is the swan song.

And watch that all those post Katrina voters mysteriously cast a vote. Plus 100% of the cemetery vote too. Don't believe it, the dim NOLA circuit is alive and well.

I agree. I could see how she would have been a cute porker in her youth, but now, she's way up on the corruption scale.
