New Poll Shows Strong Opposition To Russia's Actions In Every Region Of Ukraine 18:37 (GMT)

There have been several polls which show that prior to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea there was never a strong separatist sentiment among Ukrainians in any region. Another poll by IRI confirms this result:

An excerpt from the summary:

Strong Majority in Every Region Opposes Russia’s Military Aggression Despite continued claims to the contrary from Moscow and pro-Russian separatists, 89 percent of respondents oppose Russia sending troops to protect Russian-speaking citizens.

The opposition to Russia’s actions is seen across all regions – 78 percent in the east, 89 percent in the south, 93 percent in central Ukraine and 99 percent in the west. It also transcends language. Seventy-nine percent of Russian speakers and 95 percent of Ukrainian speakers oppose the Russian actions. IRI noted that this was the first national poll in some time to include respondents from Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts (states).

According to the poll, only two percent of Ukrainians would like to see a divided country.

The poll also shows that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has support from 59% of Ukrainians, up from 53 percent in April, and support for the outgoing parliament, recently dissolved by the President, is at only 15%.

New parliamentary elections will be held in just a few weeks.

Anyone who thinks there's such a thing as a free poll in Ukraine is smoking crack.

That's not to say the purported results are not close to accurate...it IS to say that nobody in Ukraine speaks freely and thinks they are anonymous.

In Ukraine, there are Communist/Fascist/Russian thugs and there are Fascist/Nationalist thugs.

Very little in between.

“A poll in the war zone. Neat trick. No chance of the respondent considering how the wrong answer might bring a visit from Nazi Azov boys is there? Pleasing the poll taker
= survival.”

Nigga, worry not, soon RT will tweet the “real” results !

This is the weak willed conclusion, the one that comes from someone too confused from too many Russkie lies. The majority of the people are fighting the good fight against the Russkies. The racist blocks account for maybe 1 or 2 percent of the vote on a very good day. If you can prove that there are only Nazis everywhere and people afraid of speaking freely about how Nazi they are, then provide it.

You misunderstood my contention.

I'm talking about the folks with power. The people in charge.

The regular folks in Ukraine are just like regular folks everywhere else.

Regular. Mostly apolitical.

The folks in power are, currently, Poroshenko and what's left of the temporary coalition government, of which only a few members can be accused of having connections with the "eeeevil" far right, and all of whom were elected in 2012. Elections for a new parliament will be taking place either this month or the next.

“IRI polls”. John McCain is actually ON the board of directors. That’s where I get my information about the pulse of Ukraine. From a US Congress/UN organization where McCain is on the board of directors.

Bingo. US State Dept. propaganda straight from the tap.

Thanks for waking up out of your drunken stupor to give us this gem. We all know that beheading people and posting photos of it on Russkie facebook pages (their version of facebook, anyway) for bragging purposes can only make you MORE popular with the locals.

Anyone who says to the contrary must be part of the McCain-Soros-Illuminati conspiracy to keep Russia from claiming its ancestral birthright in Ukraine.

Indeed, the tactic of the communist lovers is to invoke the fear of Nazis. I just don't get the defenders of Putin. No large corporation wants anything to do with Russia. Ikea pulled out. Walmart pulled out. The place is toxic. As far as I'm concerned is the Russian people made their bed. We tried damn hard to get them to adopt market reforms, but they prefer corporatism and being ruled by the KGB.
