Follow the link to watch a live forum at Johns Hopkins on Ebola.
Webcast should resume shortly at 11:15 a.m.
In the last few minutes, a speaker shared a model of how the Ebola crisis may progress.
PING... in case anyone on this list is interested.
LOL
Are they running the Benny Hill theme song as background music because all of these “learned”, knowledgable health care professionals seem to all be running around in circles.
Speaker says ‘I know much less about Ebola today than I [thought I] knew 6 months ago.’
‘Come to expect the unexpected’ [regarding information on Ebola].
‘Expect many black swans [unforeseen direct and indirect consequences] from this current crisis.’
‘Let us acknowledge that we are making this up as we go. Do not be apprehensive of saying “I do no know”.’
Cautions against misinformation — one ‘expert’ saying one thing and another ‘expert’ contradicting it.
Failing miserably with ‘Plan A’ — techniques used for years.
This is Michael Osterholm, is it not? He’s been at the forefront of infectious disease and bioterror for years. Read one of his books many years ago. He’s IMHO smarter, more realistic, and more trustworthy than anyone in any fedgov leadership position. He has been shouting in the desert for years, though, and no one has been listening.
Thank you for the ping
BFL-ipod can’t handle it
Just making sure you see this thread...
Thanks for the link.
Some good info already that’s been kept from public discussion.
So far, as far as I can understand, anyway, they’re pretty much admitting that the disease will be spreading further and they still don’t really know what to do.
That speaker was very straightforward. He’s right that the public needs and wants to hear honest talk, not false promises.
And that is why I am opposed to sending 4,000 military troops who are not trained in medical procedures or medical protocals .
Better to send "Voluntary MASH units" who are trained in medical procedure.
We dont need, nor can we afford, more Ebola patients in the continental US,especially at $500,000 cost per case.
The CDC issues half-truths , which makes what we are being told a lie .
The science behind this disease is constantly changing.
Did anyone catch the answer to the question about anti-HIV medicine?
I walked away for a moment and didn’t quite hear it. It sounds like they stopped using anti-HIV drugs for Ebola.
Seems like they are doing everything they can to bring it into the country instead of securing the boarder.
Instead of handling the way protocol instructs.
